One of the toughest things I see, as a casting director, that the talents do when they come into the audition room is struggle keeping their dialogue "reaI." I see it over and over again and the solution is simple. You can do this by using your energy. Talent must keep their energy up and keep the audition piece they are doing "real," but cannot confuse the two.
When I see actors do an audition that lacks energy, I am ready to see the next actor waiting to audition; it's that simple. Energy is the emotional connection an actor brings to his or her character.
So, how do you have great energy and keep the audition piece real or believable? By using the five elements I have come up with in my teachings, which I give to you in my book.
Break a leg!
