Greetings from the President
Greetings,
Last month in San Diego we enjoyed one of our largest meetings in recent years. The proceedings of the 31st annual NCBS conference included 86 panels, two film presentations, and plenary sessions on the impact of the Katrina disaster as well as the academic achievement of African-American students. Another special feature of this year's conference was NCBS' collaboration with the Association of Black Educators.

Call for Papers

NCBS is now accepting abstracts for papers, films and panels that explore the African World experience from an interdisciplinary global perspective. Of particulary interest are those presentations that approach the discipline of Africana Studies using a multi-layered framework that incorporates various combinations of class, race, gender or womanist, Afro-Centric, cross-cultural, multi-cultural, postmodernist, postcolonial, comparative and diasporic perspectives.
