HORSE SLAUGHTER IN AMERICA?
In Nov 2011, the U.S. Senate & House of Representatives approved a bill allowing regulation for horse processing plants and rejecting de-funding which now once again makes it legal to operate horse slaughtering/processing facilities in the U.S. It's still illegal to sell in the U.S. for consumption, but legal to slaughter, process, and sell to foreign consumers.

Right now there are no horse slaughter plants in the U.S., but this law would permit them. You can take action to reverse this law by contacting your senators and representatives and telling them to support Senate Bill S. 1176 or House Bill HR 2966, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act of 2011. Learn more about horse slaughter for human consumption and make your voice heard. Advocate for those horses who cannot speak for themselves.

The horses listed below are at our rescue in Chickamauga, GA. We are located at 6678 South Hwy 341.

Ranger is a seven-year-old POA (Pony of America) gelding who stands just over 12 hands. He is a charming pony and has been ridden by some experienced children on trail rides around the farm. Ranger is a lovely horse and would make a wonderful riding companion for an experienced child who can provide him with patient and loving care. .

Stella Before
|
Stella was purchased for forty dollars at auction, very skinny and very afraid. You can see the poor condition she was in when we first saw her.
Why this beautiful horse was sent to auction is unknown, but after only five months on grass, Stella has made a full recovery and look at her now! She's gorgeous! Stella is now ready to train for

riding and we've been working with her. She is still green, but very willing and will be a great riding companion for a lucky family. She is about 15 hands and now that she's gained appropriate weight, she is quite the beauty. This amazing girl is going to make some human companion extremely happy. All she needs is love, patience, and attention.

Remington is about ten years old and was gelded this past summer. He was found by animal control roaming down the street and, when he remained unclaimed for several weeks, we took him in. This handsome boy didn't even know how to walk on a lead rope. Volunteers have been working with him and with some gentle prodding and patience, he now not only walks with the lead rope, but will even stand to be saddled. We have not ridden him yet, but it's clear he's very smart and willing and will make a great project for the right person. With a little patience, Remington will be a great trail horse.

Chief is a seven-year-old QH gelding that will make a great riding horse for an experienced rider. He has a lot of "get up and go" which will provide lots of fun for a confident and gentle rider. Like Stella (above), he came from auction very underweight. With some good food and tender care, Chief is now ready for a forever home. Chief is just over 15 hands and is hoping to find a loving, patient home with someone who will give him lots of attention.
