The Lehigh University Department of Theatre presents August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning Drama The Piano Lesson, in Diamond Theater  Wed.-Sat. April 9-12 at 8 pm. Lehigh University Associate Professor of Theatre, Kashi Johnson, directs the story of an African-American family's struggle over the future of their cherished heirloom: a piano, carved with portraits and pictures by their great grandfather, an enslaved carpenter. At the heart of the battle are brother and sister. Boy Willie wants to sell the piano to buy the land his family once worked as slaves. Berniece insists that the piano holds too much family history to sell. The issue cuts both ways as the family struggles with the dilemma of honoring the past or stepping into the future. Notes Johnson, "As painful as your family legacy may be the play presents the question, what are you doing with it? Are you using the lessons of your past or choosing to ignore them?"

Tickets to The Piano Lesson are available for $12. For information, call 610-758-2787 (7LU-ARTS); visit Zoellner Ticket Services, MWTF from 12 - 5 pm, Tuesday 12-6 pm, Saturday 1l am-1 pm, and 90 minutes before curtain, or order online at www.zoellnerartscenter.org.
