Network Friends:
This issue of Lehigh Valley Black News
Network is brought to you in part by: The Theatre
Outlet, Community Action
Development Corporation of Allentown, and
DeSales
University.
We often associate the Holiday Season as a time of
giving. How we give of our time and resources is
different for all of us. This edition of LV BNN has
provided a look into
Ethnic Philanthropy with a report from the
Regional Association of Grantmakers that sheds some
light on how people of color give.
Locally, if you'd like to give of your time or find those
who would like to give of their time to support your
organization, the Volunteer
Center of the Lehigh Valley's Project Blueprint could be for you.
Enjoy the 2006 Holiday Season!
..Remember, tell a neighbor, tell a friend and be
sure to let them know, you saw it in LV BNN!
Support the organizations and businesses that
support LV BNN. Enjoy this Edition.

Art Exhibit Commemorates Martin Luther King, Jr. |
January 16 to February 16, 2007
|
|
|
Northampton Community College's Fowler Southside Center
The legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will
be commemorated in an art exhibit, "From
Montgomery to the New Millennium," January 16 *
February 16, 2007, at Northampton Community
College's Fowler Southside
Center, 511 East Third
Street, Bethlehem.
The exhibit will represent a broad spectrum of art
reflecting the civil rights movement.
Several rooms on the ground floor will display the
work of artists from:
* the New York metropolitan area, New Jersey, and
Pennsylvania
* the Lehigh Valley
* Whitehall High School (students). Over one
hundred students of teacher Danny Moyer have
constructed a mural, six feet high and seventy feet
long, depicting African Americans who represent
social, political, musical, literary, and athletic
experiences. Dr. Martin Luther King, Condoleezza
Rice, Malcolm X and Rev. Jesse Jackson are among
these figures. The images were created by breaking
down photos to three levels of contrast.

RACIAL, TRIBAL, AND ETHNIC PHILANTHROPY
|
|
According to a new report from the Forum of
Regional Association of Grantmakers, "increasing
numbers of people of color, long stereotyped as
receivers rather than givers, are finding innovative
ways to leverage personal assets to benefit their
communities." This report is important for any
organization that wishes to expand their reach,
acquire critical knowledge on tribal and ethnic
participation, and build relationships with such groups.
