FOX NEWS 26 IN HOUSTON PRODUCES SPECIAL REPORT ON THE DARRINGTON SEMINARY -- aired May 8, 2012 on the 9 o'clock news.
Houston's Fox News Affiliate, KHOU TV, and special-projects reporter Greg Groogan, recently spent the day at Darrington Seminary, located inside the maximum security penitentiary south of Houston in Rosharon, Texas. This 4-year, fully accredited Seminary is an extension of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and was made possible by the combined efforts of many influential leaders in Texas. The Heart of Texas Foundation which was privileged to assist in the founding of the Seminary, after The Madison Charitable Foundation of Houston provided the initial gifts that helped The Heart of Texas Foundation become an entity.

Once The Heart of Texas Foundation visited Angola prison in Louisiana, and saw the effects that their Seminary has had on that prison's culture, we asked for their help to bring our own Texas prison-based Seminary into being.
In addition to The Madison Foundation of Houston, there were many individuals who added their leadership, influence and expertise: Senator John Whitmire; Senator Dan Patrick; Southwestern Seminary President Paige Patterson; Dr. Jim Richards, Executive Director of Southern Baptists of Texas Convention; Brad Livingston, Executive Director of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice; Darrington Warden (now retired) Brenda Chaney; Burl Cain, Senior Warden of the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola; Jimmy LeBlanc, Secretary of Corrections, State of Louisiana; Dr. John Robson, Director of the Joan Horner Center for Biblical Studies at Angola; Dr. Chuck Kelly, President of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary; Edd and Nina Hendee, owners of Taste of Texas Restaurant in Houston; and many others, both in Texas and outside the state.
