THE SPECIAL GUESTS AND THEIR TABLES
John Whitmire Senator John Whitmire is the ranking Senator in Texas. He is chairman of the Texas Criminal Justice Committee, and has been a leading force in supporting the Heart of Texas Foundation's efforts to establish the first 4-year, accredited Seminary in a Texas penitentiary.

Senator Whitmire has a deep desire to reduce the victims of crime in our state, and to help bring about more widespread moral rehabilitation within our inmate population. These and other motives compel his efforts to bring positive change to our system. He has encouraged the Heart of Texas Foundation from the outset to pursue the establishment of the Seminary at Darrington, and has been a consistent proponent of our efforts to raise the bar in Texas for moral and spiritual rehabilitation of our inmates. With the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in close support of everything we have done, the project to bring the Darrington Seminary to Texas has been a joy to bring about. Read more about him.

Dan Patrick Texas State Senator Dan Patrick won the Senate race in his District with the highest percentage of votes in Texas history. Now in his second term, his interest in the Heart of Texas Foundation reaches back to its very genesis, and is largely a result of the documentary he produced, The Heart of Texas. This award-winning film traces a true story which took place in the Houston area. Senator Patrick is a creative leader and a known patron of the common good. He has worked closely with Senator Whitmire to help support the development of the historic new Seminary at Darrington Penitentiary. Bid on his guest table, and you might win the honor of dining with him and his wife Jan at the banquet. Read more at his website.

Burl Cain

Senior Warden Burl Cain is admittedly the most famous warden in the world. His prison is "Angola," the Louisiana State Penitentiary. It was once known as "the bloodiest prison in America," but now has been transformed into a showplace of peace. God has shown the world through Angola what He can happen when He invades a prison. Warden Cain's facility is the largest maximum-security penitentiary in America. With 18,000 acres and 5,300 men, Angola is a huge enterprise that houses, almost entirely, men who are serving life sentences with no possibility of parole. Warden Cain's strong faith in the life and work of Jesus Christ has helped turn Angola into a model institution. Over 400 worship services are held each month. Most of the services are taught by inmates, many of whom were former gang members. You will touch a piece of American history in the making to spend an evening at the Banquet with Warden Cain, whose humor will delight you! Read more about Angola.
