Heart of Texas Prison Event!

Greetings!


 

Would you like to join us for a forthcoming prison event?


 

It will be one of just four of these special events we'll be doing in Texas in 2011.  It's something I call, "One Day with God and Mom, for Children".


 

We're going to go into a women's maximum-security penitentiary, work with the women to prepare them to see their children, and then we'll bring their children into the prison! 


 

WE NEED YOU TO HELP THESE CHILDREN AND THESE MOMS.


 

Not many Texas Christians get to do something like this-- a mission trip to a foreign land, but right in our own back yard.  Read about the Event below, and let me know if you'd like to come!  But I need to know by January 14!

HERE'S THE EVENT


One Day with God and Mom in Prison

We bring the children in to play with, and pray with, their moms.

Men and Women volunteers invited!!!


 

February 10-12, 2011  Heart of Texas joins Forgiven Ministry at Plane State Prison for Women, Dayton, Texas. (Near Beaumont)

SCENARIO:  Heart of Texas Volunteers will once again join forces with Scottie and Jack Barnes, Jack King, and others to bring children together with their parents- in this case, their mothers, for a most incredible, rich time together. 


 

You'll be in the prison one evening on the first night; and then two full days (Friday and Saturday).  You'll be trained and always have a partner to work with!    We'll help the mothers learn more about how to reconcile, restore, and rebuild relationships between their children. 


 

You'll also work off-prison grounds in a nearby church with all the saintly Caregivers who are raising these children while their mothers (and often their daddies too) are in prison.  It is a heartbreaking effort, yet one that brings incredible joy to those of us who make this possible. If you'd like to come with us, just reply to this email, or call Kenny Lentz, using the contact information below. 


 

You'll never be the same after a weekend with the children, who really do miss their mommies!  And... you'll be HOME SATURDAY NIGHT so you can go to church on Sunday!


 

We need to know if you're able to go-- so let us know by January 14, and you'll get more details mailed to you from Kenny Lentz.


 

Here's the basic itinerary so you can make a decision now, about going.

  1. Dates:  February 10(evening), 11(all day) and 12(all day until about 5 pm).  You'll be home Saturday night, so you can go to church on Sunday.
  2. Location:  Dayton, Texas, a little northwest of Beaumont.
  3. Experience needed?  NO.  This is a great introduction to prison ministry!!
     
  4. Women and men are needed.  Everyone will have a job to do, but you'll never be asked to do anything that makes you uncomfortable!
  5. Number of women inmates who will be allowed to come to the weekend event:  approximately 30-50.  There may be as many as 75-85 children.
  6. Dress:  casual, jeans, slacks, sneakers OK
  7. Lodging:  You would want to spend Thursday night and Friday night in a nearby motel.  Grab yourself a roommate and saddle up!!  Husbands and wives are welcome, as well as grabbing your best friend and bring him or her along!
