Greetings!

Thanks Rotary Wheelagain for engaging this new email format for your Orange Rotarian. I would invite you to check out the "linked" content in previous newsletters.  Last week we added some historic videos to Capt Bob Meyer's story (WWII Glider Pilot). By clicking his picture or the "news article" you were transported to 1945 and caught a glimpse of what Capt Bob and crew did and did it so well.  Please check out the Rotary Minute, or touch Mr Perlman's Photo in this edition. There's something for everyone with plenty of surprises.(oh...that Angels logo!) Let's stay connected and informed!  ...Glenn Chitjian Bulletin Editor

President Ron's Weekly Message

New Policy on Lunch Tickets

The constitution of all Rotary clubs provides that every Rotarian shall pay an admission fee, annual club and district dues, and other assessments as set by the governing board of the club. This includes the weekly meeting ticket.  Our club's board has decided that beginning August 2, 2012, every member shall purchase a ticket each week for the meeting. This ticket will include a choice of food provided by our venue. Tickets are $20 each (if purchased in a package of ten tickets), or $22 if purchased individually. Every attending member and guest will be expected to have a ticket for each meeting.

Each Rotarian is expected to attend weekly Rotary Club meetings, whether at his/her club or another club. When a Rotarian misses a meeting at his/her club, he/she should make up that meeting at another club within 14 days before or after the regular club meeting. If that missed meeting is not made up, each Orange Rotarian is expected to pay $20 for each missed meeting that is not made up.

In addition, there will be no more "comp" tickets or any "$5 Non-Eating" tickets. The only comp issued each week will go to the program speaker. Guests of the speaker will be expected to purchase a ticket. Comp tickets will still be provided to guests and honorees for special programs such as teachers being awarded Mini Grants, Police and Fire officers being honored, student athletes receiving awards, etc. These comp tickets will be charged to the budgets of the avenues of service providing the honors or awards.

These measures are required in order to make our lunch/meeting costs "revenue neutral." In the past three fiscal years, our catering costs have far exceeded the Club's ticket revenue. That has caused our Club's financial condition to seriously deteriorate. This system of cost controls and revenue streams was chosen by your board rather than implementing higher ticket pricing.  Pres Ron

  Today's Featured Speaker....Jeannie D'  Agostino

Jeannie has
Jeannie D'Agostino
Jeannie D'Agostino
had the unique experience of spending the first 19 years of her life wandering around the world at the behest of the United States Army.  Both of her parents joined the Army out of college and made a career out of it.  Jeannie was a military brat.  By the age of ten she had already lived in four states and one other country.  Ultimately she began to see the upsides of this way of life, and, while it was not always easy to leave her friends, study in a new school, or join a new sports team, she ultimately learned the pros far outweighed the cons.

Throughout her undergraduate studies at Chapman University she placed a large emphasis on life and government in the countries in the Middle East.  By having the opportunity to spend some time living and studying in a Middle Eastern country, she will better understand both sides of the issues as she continues to pursue her lifetime goals of being in a position where she can minimize political conflict.

Jeannie D'Agostino is our club's returning Ambassadorial Scholar who recently returned from a year of study at the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon.  She became a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar because she was strongly committed to the goals of Rotary to enhance relations between the United States and other nations.  This fall she plans to return to the American University of Beirut to complete
