President Ron's Weekly Message
Well here we are, a brand-new year and all the comments this past year about Ron's upcoming term, have now become a reality.
My purpose and goals for our club this new year are multi faceted. My first goal is to guide us toward a sounder financial position. To begin with, it will be necessary for us to make a few changes concerning how we pay for our meals. Our current agreement with Grand Catering is to guarantee a certain number of paid lunches, but our club is falling short of this guarantee each week. A perception most of us seem to have when we pay for our weekly lunch is that we are paying for food. However, that is just part of the cost of the meeting. You see, part of the cost is to have access to this beautiful facility with good parking and comfortable seating. Yes, a place to which we are happy to come, and also to which we are pleased and proud to bring our guests.
It has become necessary to make some changes. You will have the opportunity to vote on a couple of choices in a week or two . While each option is different, each will enable us to avoid repeating the nearly $6,000 annual deficit for weekly meeting costs, as we have in the past. It is very important that each of you have a say, so be sure to attend the next couple of weeks. This way your opinion will definitely be heard and counted.
Finally, I will be sharing more of our plans for "Service Above Self" in the coming few weeks. We are going to have great fun, very exciting times, and get lots accomplished over these next few months. You will not want to miss anything I assure you! You will find every meeting to be worth your while!
Remember, Orange Rotary Club is the number one club in the District, and we will work together to make it number one 2 years in a row.
Thank you for your support. Ron Lacey

Orange Rotary's own, new District Governor
We, as Rotarians at all levels, must assess what must be done to strengthen fellowship in Clubs through an aggressive plan, focusing on retention, that makes Rotary relevant to each member, during all stages of their life. Pairing retaining members with the guiding principles of the Ignite membership program, we will guarantee growth in the ranks of Rotary.
I look forward to our year with great anticipation. Each of us in our own way can make a difference, because as I have learned, there is no such thing as staying the same - You are either getting worse or You are getting better. Getting better is always much more fun, so let us have fun! Your Governor - Jim

"Oh my goodness, did I just see Rotary rolling down the freeway"!
The answer is YES, but how did it get there and what is it for?
Past Governor of Rotary, Greg Owen from the Long Beach club, a very popular well known Rotarian, with a HUGE heart for Rotary, will share with you an amazing story of why he is so passionate about the eradication of polio, the number one Rotary project world wide, and why he is doing something to help.
