Hail Storm Damage
 | |
Example of hail damage to roof vent |
Here are some tips to determine if you suffered damage from hail.Inspect your roof promptly after a storm. Any storm or strong winds can damage a roof, so the sooner you inspect the roof after a storm the better.
- Start by looking on your roof, gutters, and on the ground for large amounts of mineral granules lost from the roof.
- If you are home during the hail storm, record the storm details: how long the storm lasted, the size of the hail, and the direction the wind was blowing.
- Take a picture of the hail if you can. This will provide valuable information for your insurance claim. Areas of lost mineral granules may be apparent, with more severe granule loss on roof slopes facing the direction from which the hailstones fell (or blew) during the storm.
- Always inspect any metal vents or gutters on your roof. Most roof vents and gutters are made of aluminum which is a fairly soft metal, so hail damage will be easily detectable by the dents left behind.
If you have weather damage on your roof or anywhere on your home, give us a call at Mike Wood Builders. We can help you with checking your roof, filing an insurance claim, and fixing your damage quickly and correctly.

Beat the Heat!

Past Porch Project |
Do you have a deck or patio? Can you enjoy it year around, or is it just too hot or too cold most of the year? Yikes! Don't even think about moving north!!
If your porch or patio is covered, you have a couple nice options. Ceiling fans are always good or, better yet, how about a mister fan? A mister fan can blow a cool breeze your way and drop the outdoor temperature by up to 25 degrees. Mister fans send out ultra fine water droplets with misting nozzles. Long story short, these little water babies get evaporated by the heat and thus, bring that thermometer waaay down.
If your porch or patio isn't covered, isn't it time to? Mike Wood Builders can convert your hot plate of a deck or patio to a cool and comfortable shady oasis that's comfy all year long. That crazy summer barefoot dance you do every time you have to walk across that porch during the summer can turn into a wonderful casual walk that you actually enjoy.
Going even further, if you'd rather incorporate that porch space into indoor living space, we can do that too. We've got lots of pictures of happy customers' houses for you to look at on our website: www.mikewoodbuilders.com/products.html |
Employee Of The Month Our first featured employee is Justus Wood, son of owners Mike and Jackie Wood. While Justus has been around the company ever since he could walk, he has only been working full time with our company for a little over a year now. We asked Justus why he likes working for us. He replied, "I love working with Re-bath because it's our family company. Sometimes it's hard to work with family, but it's worth it! Our family wouldn't be as close if it weren't for us always working together." When Justus isn't working he enjoys devoting his time to his church, studying the Bible, and hanging out with friends and family. Justus hopes to one day get married and have a big family, but ultimately, he wants whatever the Lord has in store for him. He wants to be able to say that he hasn't wasted his life on trivial things but that he has lived it for the Lord!
