"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.(Wikipedia)" This quote was taken from a letter that John Adams wrote his wife Abigail. While he was off two days in his prediction concerning what we now know as July 4th (Independence Day), he was right when he said that it would be celebrated for years and years to come!
This July Mike Wood Builders & Re-Bath has a lot to celebrate. We have the pleasure of welcoming home Marine Sergeant Barak Wood, one of our Re-Bath employees who has been serving in Afghanistan helping to fight the war on terrorism since September 2011. Barak is the son of Mike and Jackie Wood who are the owners of Mike Wood Builders & Re-Bath. Barak grew up in his dad's business helping and learning his trade from a very early age. He installed Re-Bath for several years before joining the Marine Reserves. Barak left for training last September and then made his way to Afghanistan. After returning from his tour recently, Barak told us a little about life as a Marine overseas.
Barak was stationed at Camp Leatherneck in Helmand Province in Afghanistan. The temperature with the wind chill was about 11 degrees. The temperature wasn't the only thing that Barak was not used to having lived his whole life in Georgia. He mentioned that the most shocking thing he realized while he was gone was seeing the way another culture lived every day. While the hardest part about of being there was being away from his wife and family, he is now happy to be back and ready to begin working for Re-Bath again! Welcome home Barak and thank you for your service!
