The Jubilee Deal (1): Understanding the Concept of Pass Over & Jubilee in Scripture As we proceed to Day 3 of The Global Kingdom Jubilee fasting and prayer, we need to reflect deeper on what Abba has set before us. Our Father in heaven is calling us to accept the greatest manifestation of His Love and its glorious outcome which is summed up in one word 'Jubilee'. The Jubilee Deal can best be understood in the context of the human narrative of the dealings of God with the Jews. Two phrases need to be clearly understood namely 'PASS OVER LAMB' and 'JUBILEE YEAR'. We will explain the two concepts within the context of a historical survey of God and humanity. The Kingdom of God has been demonstrated before on earth through His dealings with His called out people, the Jews. The ordinances He gave them were encrypted with deep meanings that would unfold in the far future which is in our days! 1. God created mankind to be instruments of overseeing this planet, earth. For this reason, mankind - represented by our progenitors Adam & Eve - were created in the image of God and given the grace to live a life of liberty and true freedom with an extraordinary ability to exercise dominion over all things. Genesis 1: 26-30; Genesis 2:15. 2. When Adam and Eve succumbed to the temptation of Satan and disobeyed the word of God, they acquired a new nature of sin and became spiritually separated from God. Instead of a spirit-led life, their souls displayed the spirit-man and became the main driver of life. They passed on this fallen nature to all their off springs. Genesis 2:16-17; Genesis 3:1-7 3. Because God is a righteous Judge, His word of warning in Genesis 2: 16-17 had to be executed. Adam and Eve and by extension all of mankind lost the privileged of the God-kind of life with its glorious privilege to be wholly dependent on Him for all their needs. Man needed to walk in the nature of Satan and was sentenced in Genesis 3:16-19 to these: * A Life of Pain in the reproduction process * A Life marked by struggle, sweat, hard labour * A Life of Bondage on earth to Satan, Sin and all kinds of evil including death, sickness * Instead of enjoying the benefice of God, mankind had signed up for a new task master, Satan and effectively handed over the mandate to rule this world to him. Adam and Eve, on behalf of mankind betrayed God and His trust! 4. Over the centuries, mankind basically drifted so far from God to the degree that various punishments were visited including the Flood which wiped off all but 8 people - Noah and his family Genesis 6, 7,8. Subsequent rebellions led to The Tower of Babel and its consequence which is the scattering of the human family across the world in mutually hostile tongues and tribes Genesis 11. 5. God later called out a people for Himself to be used as a model to the rest of humanity. Genesis 12: In Abraham, God began a process which led to emergence of the Hebrews later called Jews and the nation of Israel as His called out people while the rest of humanity who lived under the grip of Satan were referred to as 'Gentiles'. 6. At a point in time, Jacob, father of the Jewish nation found shelter in Egypt where his long lost son, Joseph, was Prime Minister by the providence of God. After the passage of Joseph, a Pharaoh who did not know him oppressed the children of Israel. In Egypt, God revealed Himself afresh to His forsaken people, judged Pharaoh, the people and land in what is called the Pass Over night. That night, all the people were required to kill a one year old spotless Lamb, sprinkle its blood on the door posts and lintel of their houses. It was a night of separation when the angel who executed the last plagues by passed all the houses with the blood (where the children of Israel sheltered) and killed all the first born of Egypt. A division was made between the people of God and those who were outside His divine cover. Exodus 12. 7. That same night, the children of Israel were so much in a hurry to get out of Egypt, the land of bondage that they had no time to mix their flour with yeast (leaven). They baked the Bread without yeast, in a hurry and left Egypt. By so doing, they were prophetically being used to institute the ordinance of Unleavened Bread which was to signify the holy Body of Jesus Christ - without sin - that was to be offered as a sacrifice for all. Exodus 12. 8. When Israel was on the way to the Promised Land, God gave them another ordinance which they were to observe in their generations. It was observance of the Jubilee Year every 50 Years Leviticus 25. On the Day of commencement of Jubilee, a Trumpet was sounded. As this happened, * Those who were in bondage of slavery were set free to enjoy Liberty and Freedom. * Those who pledged their lands as collateral to secure loans were given the opportunity to redeem such lands - connoting Recovery and Restoration. * The land was left fallow that year, yet the people never lacked what to eat as a result of the generous harvest God gave them the previous year - connoting living by Rest purely on the benefice of God * Jubilee therefore connoted a life of Grace and Favour before God! ...to be continued!
