Course 113 - Concerning Spiritual Gifts Lesson #2
Definition and understanding the Seal Measure
With the foundation laid from lesson one, it is now imperative that we begin, by the Spirit, an exposition of what the core scriptures on the subject matter say.
* What is a spiritual gift? Romans 12:6; 1 Corinthians 12: 1, 7
In contemporary language, a spiritual gift is a measure of the Holy Spirit endowed on the saint for the purpose of representing God on earth. In other words, the plan of God for His children is to use them as channels to manifest Himself in everyday life.
To use an even more illustrative description, a spiritual gift is the 'showing up of the Holy Spirit through a saint'. What this means is that whenever the Holy Spirit uses a saint to impart a blessing or demonstrate Christ, a spiritual gift has been on display. This is consistent with what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians chapter 12.
1 Corinthians 12:7
King James Version (KJV)
7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
As the name implies, it is not a natural talent we speak of. Everybody on earth - saint or sinner has one or more talents. God gives talents to all of creation as part of His overall responsibility as creator. However, God reserves spiritual gifts only for His children who respond to His unsurpassing love expressed in the incarnation, passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
A spiritual gift can also be defined as the part of Christ He has made each saint to be so that all of us can bring forth what we are to build up each other and collectively make the Church a strong witness of the reality of His Presence and Power. In effect, God has blessed each saint with some spiritual gifts according to His grace.

Course 113: Concerning Spiritual Gifts - Lesson #1
Preamble
Yesterday we concluded GSoM Course 119: Discovering and Fulfilling your God given ministry. The course, which covered 11 lessons elicited profound interests in ministry from a wide array of participants on face book. As a follow up, we need to study GSoM Course 113: Concerning Spiritual Gifts which dwells in detail on one of the most important qualities required to succeed in ministry.
The Holy Spirit spoke through Paul the Apostle in the epistle to the Romans chapter 12 and 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and Ephesians 4: 1 - 16. He also spoke through the Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 4: 10, 11 to outline what spiritual gifts are and the broad range of gifts. Their right/proper application in the Church is dealt with in 1 Corinthians 14 within the context of charity or love as expounded in 1 Corinthians 13.
This course will seek to present a systematic exposition of the plan of God for His Church to operate as a supernatural entity of functional body parts which sustain each other and the whole in a matrix of spiritual gifts. Thus, the course will debunk the concept of the church as an organization with a pyramidal structure under a human Chief Executive which is the prevalent practice of the Laodicea church that bestrides the church world in this generation.

Course 119 - Discovering and Fulfilling your Ministry Lesson #11
The Rewards of Faithful Service
God is good! He is fair and equitable, with an excellent track record of faithfulness to those who trust Him and blesses those who serve Him. From Abraham and the Patriarchs to faithful saints of all generations, the testimony is sure: God is truly dependable!
Those who have not come to grips with this foundational reality which fills the pages of both Testaments of the Holy Writ cannot truly answer the call to ministry in full assurance of faith. Whatever is not of faith, as Romans 14:23 say is sin!
God is a rewarder of those who diligently serve Him! He wants us to bear this reality in mind and trust Him completely even if there are seasons when the flesh will assume all is lost as Satan assails the five carnal senses. A careful reading of Hebrews 6: 9-20; Hebrews 10:35-39 and Hebrews 11:1-40 is recommended.
One day, Peter took the liberty to voice a question on behalf of all those who had abandoned all else to answer the call of Jesus. In Matthew 19:27 the former fisherman asked pointedly: "See, we have left all and followed you. Therefore what shall we have?". After stating the specific rewards due to the 12 disciples in verse 28, Jesus went a step further to declare in verse 29: "And every one who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My Name's sake shall receive a hundred fold, and inherit eternal life"

Course 119: Discovering & fulfilling your God given ministry - Lesson #10
The Price to be paid and Pitfalls in Ministry
Public Ministry is not a piece of cake! Contrary to the Hollywood type glamour which is projected by 'successful' ministers and ministries and the hype which attends city wide meetings of 'great ministers' of this generation, true biblical ministry has only one model: Jesus Christ Himself! The disciples and early Church were blessed and used mightily by God because they were single minded in following the example of Jesus Christ. Accepting the call to ministry is the spiritual equivalent of coming out of the world and shunning all its glories in the quest of the Kingdom to come. The command by Jesus in Matthew 6:19-34 to trust God for all their well being was not just a doctrine but a way of life for the early Church. As the end of the age approaches, God is looking forward to anoint and send men and women who will still seek first the Kingdom and its righteousness.
In several scriptures, Jesus laid out the price to be paid. Let us examine a few passages.
Matthew 16:24-26
24Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
