Greetings! ,

 Summer is winding down !

This summer was one of the busiest in years and now in late August you start to sense the transition to our fall season as the summer folks head back home with memories of a wonderful time on island.

This summer we saw some exciting new additions in town including the fully renovated Dreamland Theater re-opening for the Nantucket Film Festival in June, the new family friendly Nantucket Hotel on Easton Street, as well as some unique stores and restaurants.  During Race Week we had the pleasure of hosting two replica tall ships, the Lynx and the Pride of Baltimore II, in our harbor for the anniversary of the War of 1812, as well as another special visitor a minke whale!

Fall brings a more relaxed pace to the island along with many special events and festivals like Restaurant Week, the Cranberry Harvest Festival, Thanksgiving with the lighting of downtown, and Christmas Stroll.  Fall also brings substantially reduced rates for all types of lodging, including short stays in private rental properties.

So as the summer winds down, be sure to take advantage of some of these great fall promotions.
