Really!?
In 1980 the first 1GB harddrive was released...it weighed 550 pounds. This highspeed piece of tech could be all yours for a mere $40,000.00!

Phone-Jacked In TechFarmers blog this month we discussed the importance of setting up strong passwords to protect our online identity. If an attacker somehow manages to acquire our credentials, they would have access to our work, our information, and if we are connected through the cloud, all of our devices. We implement strong passwords and keep them private to help prevent this. Unfortunately, even if we have unbreakable passwords, solid anti-virus software, and an impenetrable firewall, Cybercrime isn't the only threat out there. If our device is physically stolen, the hacker wouldn't care about any of that, they would have all of our files and information in hand, literally. This is where a little preventative planning and a remote wipe service come in. Some great applications and programs have been developed recently to disappear all data from a stolen mobile device such as an IPhone or Tablet PC. When a phone or computer is broken or lost, more often than not, the user is more concerned about the data and contacts on the device falling into the wrong hands than the actual device itself. As always one of the most important preventative measures we can take is regular Back-ups. With our info backed up, and our devices insured, a lost or stolen device can be recovered from in a matter of hours. We remote wipe it rendering the device nothing more than a stylish paperweight to the thief, transfer our backed up data to a new device via the cloud, and are back in business. The same concept can be applied to laptops and even desktop PC's. Contact us for more information on services such as Lo-Jack for PC's. |

Sonic Wall
In today's day and age it isn't a matter of if a network will get hit by cybercrime; it's a matter of when. Antivirus software has become standard in personal PC's due to the ever present threat of malicious software floating around the cloud, as well as intentional hackers accessing personal information.
Businesses are no exception. Historically, business networks have been a far more popular target than home users. These networks are at constant risk of getting attacked, and in the business world, there is much more at stake.
The answer comes in the form of firewall protection. The purpose of a firewall is to allow the right traffic in and out of the network and deny access to any unwanted visitors or prying eyes. A properly implemented firewall will keep private information private and uninvited guests out.
Firewalls can come in the form of hardware or software. Software based firewalls are installed on each individual computer and are configured by the individual user. This is a popular method for home users and very small businesses due to the cost of implementation. As the number of PC's increases within a business however, a disadvantage arises from the need to install and manage the firewall individually on each computer.
This is why the majority of businesses turn to the folks at IT to handle and administer a firewall for the whole network. At TechFarmer we like to implement a physical hardware based firewall system such as SonicWALL. With SonicWALL, there is just one central firewall that protects the entire infrastructure of the business, and just one device that needs to be managed and administered.
Modern firewalls such as the Dell SonicWALL not only protect the network from attacks and MalWare, they optimize the performance of the network by providing services such as delegating the use of bandwidth to programs that need it and throttling down programs and applications that aren't a priority. These devices can also act as Anti-SpamWare for business e-mail accounts, as well as data back-ups, Network Address Translators, and Virtual Private Network Gateways.
Check out SonicWALL's website to learn more about other features and advantages of these systems.

In the News
TechFarmer was featured in an article by the Veterinary Practice News recently. VPN, wrote an article on Practice Management Software (PMS) systems recently which involved TechFarmer and Deer Creek Animal Hospital regarding the high importance of PMS as well as correctly implementing and maintaining the back end pieces of such systems. With any new large-scale technology implementation such as this, it takes a bit of effort to keep it running smoothly which is where we at TechFarmer come in. |
