Mader-Jones to run for Circuit Court Clerk
Mary Ann Mader-Jones, a lifelong resident of Campbell County, has filed to run for Campbell County Circuit Court Clerk in the November 2012 election.
A graduate of Bishop Brossart High School and one of 13 children, Mader-Jones worked for 17 years in the family's insurance agency. She has spent the past 16 years as a mortgage consultant, and is currently a top producer at Union Savings Bank.
Mary Ann was a volunteer with the Alexandria Fire Department for 17 years as an EMT, Paramedic, EMT Instructor and CPR Instructor. She also volunteered with the Maplewood Home in Burlington, working with displaced children waiting to be placed in foster homes. For 10 years she served as a religious education teacher at St. Mary Parish in Alexandria, eventually coordinating their entire Religious Education Program for six more years.
Mader-Jones is a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary at Post 3205 in Alexandria. Her husband, Ron, is a Vietnam veteran and six-time Commander of Post 1484 in Park Hills, where he is still a member. Ron is also a member of the American Legion in Alexandria. Mary Ann has a daughter, Jeana, and son-in-law, Matthew.
"I have known and worked on many projects with Mary Ann for over 35 years," said Sue Orth, past chair of the Campbell County Democratic Executive Committee. "She has always been the one to step up to the plate, roll up her sleeves and get the job done. I wholeheartedly endorse her candidacy for Circuit Court Clerk and look forward to offering my assistance to her campaign."
"I am excited about running for Circuit Court Clerk," said Mader-Jones. "I feel confident that my business experience will enable me to streamline the process of the Circuit Court for the savings and convenience of the citizens of Campbell County."

Where we are today,
where we're going in 2012
In a guest column published by the Campbell County Recorder December 29, Rep. Dennis Keene takes a look back at 2011, citing Kentucky's encouraging performance in employment, revenue and personal income levels relative to other states, and highlighting bright spots in the commonwealth's classrooms.
"...I am encouraged by this information. I believe we will continue to pull together and move our commonwealth to a brighter, more prosperous future in 2012," Keene said.
To move forward the gaming issue, and with it the revenue picture, Rep. Keene pre-filed a bill for the 2012 legislative session opening January 3 that would establish a process by which casino gaming may be brought into Kentucky in a controlled way.
The bill would place the oversight of casino gaming with the Kentucky Lottery Corporation. It would limit the locations at which a casino may be located to either counties with a population of 90,000 or more, or cities of the fourth class or greater that already have a horse racing track located within the city. Cick here for more information on this bill.

Rep. Keene files his 2012 re-election papers.
