Come and warm up by the fire!
December 2010
Bondir
Greetings!

Bondir Restaurant is finally open. It has been almost a year since I saw a "for rent" sign in the window of a little brick building tucked between two auto service stations. Now we have several new neighbors and a new home for our cuisine. I am very thankful for the help I've received throughout the opening process, from the city inspectors' advise to old and new friends' hours of work and design. I'm so happy to have been able to open a restaurant in the neighborhood where I live - beautiful Cambridge.

In the two weeks since we opened our doors, we have had the pleasure to cook for many old friends and new neighbors, and I thank you so much for coming in. Each time you return you will see new dishes on the menu and new explorations in flavor and texture. I look forward to showcasing the bounty that surrounds Cambridge - from fishermen, farmlands, and pastures, all close at hand.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy holiday season and a wonderful new year!

Special Dinners
special dinners

Join us as we celebrate the season. Upcoming special dinners include our
New Year's Eve celebration with menu details coming soon!

Also, look for our Robert Burns Dinner in late January, which we hope to make an annual event. Want to learn more about Robert Burns and the traditional Scottish supper in his honor? Here's a pretty good description.

You can also visit the events section of our website for regular updates and details.

Don't forget dessert!

One of our featured desserts in the past few weeks has been sunchokes cooked in black pepper caramel over spice bread with red vermouth cream.

Did you know the sunchoke has gone by such other names as earth apple, sun root, and Jerusalem artichoke; and it is a species of sunflower native to the eastern United States? The explorer Samuel de Champlain first encountered sunchokes growing in an American Indian vegetable garden in Cape Cod, Massachusetts in 1605.

Also on the dessert menu recently is our Sorbet Trio of Kafir lime and yogurt sherbet, Autumn Olive-Cinnamon sorbet, and Cranberry sorbet.

And don't miss the cheese from West River Creamery - great raw milk aged cow and goats' milk cheese.

Thank you for signing up for our newsletter. We hope you continue to find it informative and entertaining. We welcome your questions and feedback. Feel free to call, email, or just stop in and say hello!

Sincerely,
