     August in Truro is our 2nd warmest month, with average highs of 77, and lows of 61.  Only 2.8 inches of rain typically fall on about 6 days. 

     Daylight hours will shorten by about 2 minutes each day, giving us 14 hours of daylight on average for the month.

Highland Links Golf Course                   
After the first round of the Ladies' Club Championship, Isabel Peres leads with an 84; and Nina Harrison leads the Senior Division with an 89. The final round is on Thursday, August 2nd.  The Annual Elmer Silva Memorial Tournament is on Friday, August 3rd.  More...

Highland Links Men's Club Championship

The 2012 Men's Club Championship saw Bob Hassett take Low Honors and the Win, shooting 71-72-75. Bob Studley captured the 1st Flight, and Fred Slade claimed the Senior Division. Congratulations to these gentlemen and all who competed this year.

The MA Dept. of Public Health announced that the EEE virus has been detected in mosquitoes collected from Brewster, MA.  Please review this document and take precautions to minimize your risk from them.

Summer Recycling & Hazardous Waste Collection
The Recycling Committee would like to remind propery owners who rent to summer visitors to be sure to let your renters know that recycling at the Transfer Station is free and available to them. Our brochures, which can be used to guide them through the Transfer Station, are available at the Transfer Station, Library, Beach Office, COA, and Rec. Dept. This summer, there are also recycling bins at most town beaches which we hope are being used by all visitors to our beautiful shores.
   Also, hazardous waste will be collected at the transfer station on August 4th. Be sure to check at the transfer station for what materials are appropriate for drop off.
The Truro Group
The Truro Group will be holding its September show throughout the month of September.  A reception will be held Sept 9th, from 2 to 4 pm., but the show opens on Sept 1st.

Mark your calendar on Sept 14, 15 and 16th for TRURO TREASURES WEEKEND.  Visit our web site www.trurotreasures.org and join the activities: Flea Market, Arts and Crafts Show, Art Auction, Car Show, 5K Race, and Golf Tournament.  Get your antiques together for having them appraised and join our Treasure Hunt.  Sunday evening Sept 16th at 6:00pm our Poetry and Prose Night returns to the First Parish Truro Meeting House (on Town Hall Hill).
