     January in Truro ... historically average highs of 36 and lows of 22, with snowfall averaging 12 inches. As a consolation to the onset of winter, days will get 20 minutes longer.

Council on Aging

The glass Armonica was invented by Ben Franklin and is a series of nested glasses which play sustained chords. Carolinn Skyler has the largest one in the world and has played in concerts throughout the US and Germany. She will be at the COA on Tuesday, January 24th at 1:30, following the COA Luncheon.    This and much more in the COA Log.

The Truro Public Library sponsors a wide variety of interesting events and presentations each month, not to mention new free e-book downloads..  More...
Historical Society        
The Truro Historical Society is preparing to publish a cookbook of favorite recipes from the best cooks in the world.   Last call for contributions.   Plus see if you can name a museum artifact.  More...

Cultural Council Grants
The Truro Cultural Council met in December to review grant applications for 2012.   Thirteen grants totaling in excess of $5,000 were approved out of a total of 22 applications received.  Awardees are being invited to present a short summary of their projects at a reception open to the public on Jan 30, at 5:30pm at the Truro Public Library.

Highland Links Golf
Although the clubhouse is closed, the links can be played for the "Honor Fee" of $15.00 during the winter months.

Truro Assessor's Office
Assessors' notices have been posted at the Assessor's Office and both Post Offices notifying the public that charitable organizations, businesses that own taxable personal property, and individuals who own taxable personal property must file the appropriate forms for Fiscal Year 2013. All forms must be filed with the Assessor's Office no later than March 1, 2012.  More..
