Bob Card of Greenwood Bay sent me this exciting news:  I was proud to be asked by the Houston Art Alliance to contribute a piece of art to the soon-to-open City of Houston Central Permitting and Green Resource Center (1002 Washington Ave) using reclaimed and salvaged material. The result was a bar code piece that spells the word "green" using 15 strips of wood, including 5 different species. There is no stain on any of these pieces of wood: all of the color is owed to the wood itself. The most unusual is the 2 purple strips that are "purpleheart" wood, which came from the dance floor of the old historic Warwick Hotel (now Hotel ZaZa). 
I had the pleasure of working in the building the last couple of days and can tell you that the building itself, and the installations are beautiful. What a great way to re-use an old rice warehouse!
