Statuary

Using statuary inside the home is great way to bring the outdoors in to the home.

Statuary comes in many materials and design and is visually inspiring and evokes nature. Statuary is an enduring art form and becomes more beautiful with age and patina and when placed in a prominent location, it can command the space.

A large piece can be a focal point in an entry way or living room. A small piece is a perfect complement on a table or in a bathroom. I have a beautiful statue bust in my bathroom and use it to drape my necklaces.

The Houston Design Center announces the opening of the Charles Ray & Associates showroom. He has moved his 5,000 showroom is in Suite 153. HDC also will welcome designer Alexa Hamilton on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 11am-1pm. She will be presenting "Decades of Design with Mark Hampton" and will sign copies of her book The Language of Interior Design. And on March 29-30, HDC hosts the Spring Design Market and Mary McDonald is the keynote speaker. She will lecture and sign copies of her book Mary McDonald Interiors: The Allure of Style.
