Greetings!

class
Last week I posted this infographic and blog post:  Motivation For Marketing Your Family Child Care On-line.

I think perhaps the biggest take-away, and wake-up call for family child care providers is this staggering statistic: 27.9 Million American moms visited Facebook in March 2012. That is a huge marketing opportunity!!

If you follow my blog, or read my newsletters, you know I am determined to get family child care providers computer literate and on-line so they have access to the resources, professional development ,and marketing opportunities available to them on-line.

Easier said than done. As I go along, I'm realizing that the number of providers on-line is even lower than I anticipated.  But I love a good challenge, so I'm determined to figure out who is on-line, what type of marketing and/or social media they currently use and how we can get the rest of the provider community to join us!

As a reference point, I have put together this Family Child Care Social Media Usage Survey that will help me to know what strategies providers are already using, and what they might need help with. The survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

Please take the survey and pass it along to other providers, and encourage them to take it as well.

Thank you for your help in getting Family Child Care providers on-line!
Music Is The Food Of The Soul, And Children
Naturally Love Moving To It!
class

For the toddlers in my family child care, music and movement was the favorite time of day...and usually occurred more than once in the day.

If you care for young children, you cannot be shy about moving your body. They don't care how foolish we think we look, they just love that we are moving with them, whether it's dancing and being silly alongside them, or holding them in our arms as we dance.

Depending on the music, it can energize or calm an early childhood classroom. Children love to dance or move to music alone, or as part of a group. Dancing and movement promote both gross motor development and body awareness.

Playing movement games also helps children learn how to follow directions. Finger plays and playing musical instruments provide opportunities to work on fine motor skills and eye hand coordination.

Children can work on basic math concepts with patterns in music and learn about the world around them through music and songs.

Check out my Music and Movement Board on Pinterest for some great ideas and resources!

How do you incorporate music and movement into your program?  I encourage you to share songs, games, ideas and photos with other providers on our Facebook page!

And don't  forget to enter the sweepstakes on our Facebook page each week for a chance to win materials for your family child care curriculum or environment!
