Greetings!

We're moving!
In the next couple of weeks, Nakali Consulting will be moving to a new office on Bayshore Blvd.  I am really excited about the location because I will be much closer to many providers in San Francisco, and practically right on the freeway, making it easier to get to providers in other counties as well.  I also wanted a location with plenty of parking, access to a conference room for network meetings, workshops and trainings, and space to house an early learning materials and toy lending library.  My new office meets all of those requirements!   For now, you can still reach me at the same address, phone and fax numbers.  I will send out new contact information once I am completely moved in.

Exploring the weather: A fun way to learn

weather

Every day when children walk out of the house, they immediately experience the weather. Is it sunny or cloudy? Are flowers blooming, or are leaves falling from the trees? For children, weather is a great learning tool because it leads to exploration and discovery.

The study of weather actually integrates science, math, and reading/writing. When parents or caregivers take the time to explore weather with children, they can help them work on many skills at once. There's something to learn for children of all ages, and adults, too!  Read More

Family Child Care Marketing Tip:
class

Today, parents are working, shopping, taking classes and playing on-line. It only makes sense that they would also be looking for child care on-line.  To be effective today, your marketing strategy must include an on-line presence, whether you are a small family child care business or a multi-million dollar corporation.  You don't have to be a computer whiz to develop your own website. There are many on-line resources available to help you get up and running. I recommend checking out Microsoft Office Live  where, for $14.95 a year, you can get a Domain Name, Website Design Tools and E-mail.                                                           More Marketing Stategies for you Family Child Care Business

We traditionally think of Spring as a time of new beginnings and change.  Change can be positive and exciting, but it can also be challenging and cause us anxiety.   We have experienced much change in the field of early care and education over the past several years, and we know that there are many more changes coming.  The budget crisis has us anxious about what cuts there might be to child care funding, and none of us can predict what final recommendations will come out of the California Early Learning Quality Improvement System (ELQIS) advisory committee.

But, the good news is that you can help decide what those changes will be!  There are approximately 40,000 family child care providers in California.  That is a lot of voices;  A lot of voting power.  I encourage you all to connect with your associations, get informed, and advocate for changes that are exciting and positive.  Don't add to your anxiety by letting someone else make all those changes for you!

Sincerely,
