AmkaiCharts Puts Patient Tracking On A Higher Level
| |
AmkaiCharts has taken its highly popular Patient Tracker to a whole new dimension, with functionality and benefits never before available to the ASC market. Workflow management features now flag users to a broad array of schedule and location status and changes, allowing for more efficient operations and higher patient satisfaction.
What can you expect from the new Patient Tracker? Now, in addition to keeping staff advised on patient location and allowing family members to independently follow a patient's progress, Patient Tracker will alert staff to current patient status, delays, and even direct the surgeon to the proper recovery bay for patient follow up.
Wait times can be easily managed. Patient Tracker records patient arrival time at the facility, time of registration and amount of time in the waiting room, allowing you to identify any extraordinary wait times. Patient Tracker can even automatically alert staff if the patient wait time exceeds a preset limit with color codes.
Workflow is carefully tracked at each step and the appropriate departments are notified. As the patient moves through each phase of the procedure, times in and out are recorded, alerting staff if a patient is delayed in any department. If the pre-procedure expected time is exceeded, the OR staff is alerted via a red flag on the Tracker. As soon as the patient is ready to move from pre-procedure to the OR/Procedure Room, the patient information turns green. This permits instant patient status knowledge by all staff members, allowing them to take appropriate action to ensure smooth and timely operations.
Recovery staff is also notified automatically if a procedure exceeds the expected time. Patient location is available to all staff, and in larger facilities, the physician/surgeon knows exactly where the patient is located in a busy recovery area, saving time for both surgeon and staff.
All information is available for reporting and analysis. Out of range delays can be summarized and reported by procedure, room, surgeon and waiting room. Analysis helps identify bottlenecks and provide the necessary information to develop solutions and ensure an efficiently run facility and improved patient satisfaction.

Safe Surgical Checklist Adherence
| |
Ambulatory surgery centers had to begin using a Safe Surgical Checklist on January 1, 2012. AmkaiSolutions is making it easier for our clients who use either AmkaiCharts or AmkaiOffice.
The Safe Surgical Checklist components have long been part of AmkaiCharts. Facilities with AmkaiCharts will now be able to run a report that confirms adherence to the Safe Surgical Checklist.
Facilities that have not yet implemented AmkaiCharts can produce a checklist with the patient's name, date of surgery and surgeon in either the WHO or AORN format using AmkaiOffice. This will greatly assist surgery centers in compliance and help avoid future reimbursement penalties.
Contact AmkaiSolutions Client Services for more information on making sure your facility is compliant.

AmkaiSolutions Holiday Giving Program Makes a Difference
| This year, instead of a traditional holiday gift, AmkaiSolutions began a new tradition, giving our clients the opportunity help others. Clients selected one of six charities to which Amkai would make a contribution in their name. The charities included:
American Cancer Society - www.cancer.org Boys and Girls Club of America - www.bgca.org The ASPCA - www.aspca.org The Nature Conservancy - www.natureconservancy.org Disabled American Veterans - www.dav.org
It was exciting to see the AmkaiSolutions family come together to support so many hard-working organizations. The program received a highly enthusiastic response, with 43% of contributions going to The American Cancer Society, 40% to the Disabled American Veterans, and the remainder split almost equally among the ASPCA, Boys and Girls Club, and The Nature Conservancy.
We thank our clients for being part of this important effort, and look forward to continuing the tradition in 2012!
