The Social Media Partnership Outsourcing Social Media (SM) & keeping it authentic
With the start of 2012 already in our rear-view window, it's a great time to re-evaluate your Social Media campaign and make sure you are utilizing it for the right and most beneficial reasons for you and your business. Ask yourself: Why did you decide to join the Social Media world? - Was it simply to collect followers?
- Was it because you felt you had to?
Neither of these is a strong enough reason. And neither of these approaches will set you up for success. Think back to your 2011 Social Media adventures. Evaluate your 2011 SM approach: - Did you connect better with your clients in 2011 than you did previously due to your jump into the Social Media world?
- Have you learned from your clients, prospective clients, etc. through Social Media?
If you can't realistically say that you are making real connections with your Social Media audience, it may be time to re-think your SM approach. A GREAT Social Media campaign means that you must not only build a network of followers, but you must ALSO interact with those followers. Many Social Media campaigns fail because they don't do both. It is a lot of work and takes time, effort and thoughtfulness. A great way to achieve these goals is to outsource your day to day Social Media campaign, and supplement that work by responding to posts, comments, tweets, etc yourself. This allows you to keep things moving forward, but also keep the authenticity up and keeps your readers engaged. Remember there is a lot your readers can learn from you, but just as much that you can learn from them. Think of Social Media as a partnership and keep it authentic.
