It is hard to believe we are just around the corner from a new school year. We are excited to have our very first senior class! Many of these students started with us in seventh grade in the fall of 2007 when VCS first opened its doors! Now, six years later, we are on the verge of breaking ground on the first phase of our permanent building! On September 10, 2012 we will be coming together as a whole school and community to mark this milestone in the history of VCS.
As is tradition, you and your family are invited to attend our 6th Annual "Meet the Teacher Night" on Monday, August 20th. All students are invited to "drop in" during the event and meet their teacher, drop off supplies, and meet new and returning friends. Middle and High School students need to pick up their schedules and receive advisory assignments. Tables will be located at the entrance of Vision Way.
Art courses have a $20 materials fee. No other fees are associated with secondary courses. Students interested in a STUDENT ACTIVITY card will need to pay an additional $24. These fees may be paid in building M in room M4. All questions about and pre-payments for the lunch program may be directed to Mrs. Knapp from 2-7 p.m. in the lunchroom.
Students taking dual credit courses will receive information about course fee amounts, due dates, and scholarship information from their teacher(s) in September.
**High School students taking Marine Science are required to purchase, Essentials of Oceanography written by Tom Garrison. This must be the 5th Edition. Students need to order the book so that it arrives prior to school starting. No other books need to be purchased for high school or college courses.
Monday, August 20th "Meet the Teacher" times
K-6th grade are invited to drop in from 2 -5 p.m.
7th-8th grade students and parents are invited to drop in from 3-6 p.m.
9th-12th grade students and parents are invited to drop in from 4- 7 p.m.
Parking will be a challenge. Just one year left until we get our AMAZING new parking lot! Please make sure you do not block a driveway or fire hydrant if parking in the nearby subdivision during school events. Please park facing the correct way on all roads in the local subdivisions. This will assist in keeping the peace with our neighbors and preventing anyone from receiving tickets. J
I look forward to seeing each of you on August 20, 2012.
Mrs. OldenKamp
