Greetings! 

 

We are excited to share that in a recent analysis of all districts in the state of Idaho, Vision Charter School's K-3rd grade students scored 1st in the area of Reading based on the Idaho Reading Indicator!  This is an amazing success! Thank you to the teachers, to the parents, and to the amazing students!

 

The VCS overall AYP score for our 3rd-11th grade students was 98.2% proficient in Reading, 95.7% proficient in Math, and 93.9% proficient in Language Arts! We are so pleased with our students' growth and improvement in every area!

 

 Overall our 7th graders had the 2nd highest scale scores on the ISAT for the state of Idaho! Our 8th and 9th grade students both had the 7th highest scale scores in the state of Idaho for their respective grades!

Elementary staff will be in their rooms presenting informational sessions throughout the evening.
Session 1:  5:00 -5:25

Passing Period: 5:55 - 6:00
Session 3: 6:00- 6:25

Passing period: 6:25-6:30
Session 4: 6:30-7:00
 
Elementary Title 1 Informational Session will be held from 7-8 p.m. in M4.

  


SECONDARY OPEN HOUSE:

 

6th -11th grade Open House is September 13th from 5-7 pm.  Teachers will be presenting sessions to help parents understand the ins and outs of their students' education.

 Mr. McDougall, Mr. George, and Mr. Scheffler will be in G1 to explain concurrent credit options for both CWI and NNU classes.

 

Mr. Boothby and Mrs. Lair will be in H2 and will be discussing our new program that helps students explore careers, future colleges, and has an online SAT, ACT, and PSAT courses. Mrs. Lair will also discuss upcoming opportunities such as National Honor Society, JOII, and the Thespian Society.  Mr. Boothby will talk about our new advisory period.

 

Mrs. Mitchell and Ms. Vance will be in I2 to help parents learn how to access the homework BLOG and other resources VCS provides.

 

Mr. Leavell and Mrs. Collins will be in C1 to explain the CORE binder organization system and agenda that all students must use to enhance educational success.

 

Mrs. Ellis and Mrs. Burton will only be available during the first hour of Open House, in M2 and E respectively.

 

Sixth grade teachers Mrs. Wafwa and Mrs. Wilkins will be in their rooms in D during the whole of Open House.

 

Each room will be presenting the same information during five 20-minute sessions, allowing parents to visit all five rooms if they wish:

Dance Class Information:

 

K-2nd Dance Class will be held on Mondays starting September 12 thru December 5th (when school is in session). The class will be held from 3:15-4:30.  $40 payment made out to Tricia Huckins will hold your child's spot in the class. Space is limited.  Basic beginner dance moves in jazz, ballet, and hip hop will be taught.  Dancers will be performing at the Christmas program.

 

3rd - 5th Dance Class will be held on Thursdays starting September 15 thru December 8th (when school is in session), The class will be held from 3:15-4:30.  $40 payment made out to Tricia Huckins will hold your child's spot in the class.  Basic beginner dance moves in jazz, ballet, and hip hop will be taught.  Dancers will be performing at Christmas program 
PFA MEETINGS...

will be held the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in room M3. You are invited to attend! The first meeting will be held September 1, 2011. The PFA is planning a MOVIE NIGHT outside on the field at 6:30 p.m. on September 16th. Watch for more information in coming weeks!  

VISION CHARTER SCHOOL HIGH SCHOOL!

 

If you know of a 9th or 11th grader who is looking for a safe small school setting, please send them our way! We have one opening in ninth grade and two openings in eleventh. It is not too late for him/her to get signed up for our dual credit college classes through NNU or CWI.  Please have interested parties contact Mrs. OldenKamp at wendyroldenkamp@msn.com .

 

All Juniors will take the SAT this year at VCS in April. The SAT will be at no charge for all Juniors! SAT, ACT, and PSAT online practice tests should be available to all high school students by the second week of September.

 

Dual Credit Scholarship Applications:

Students applying for a VCS Scholarship for a dual credit course need to have the form back to the office by September 9, 2011. If you would like to donate money to assist students in taking dual credit courses, contact Mrs. OldenKamp at wendyroldenkamp@msn.com.

 

The PSAT will be offered to the first 25 students who request a spot AND pay the $14 test fee. The deadline to secure your spot is September 21, 2011. This test is open to 7th graders - 11th graders. The test will be offered on Saturday, October 15th, 2011. Please make checks payable to Vision Charter School and put PSAT in the memo line. Please secure your spot for this test by e-mailing Mrs. OldenKamp at wendyroldenkamp@msn.com. Students taking the test their Junior year may be eligible for the NMSQT scholarship!

 

Fastweb.com is a wonderful website for looking at scholarship options. Parents are encouraged to go to braintrack.com to determine the requirements for universities. Collegeboard.com is a website where students can sign up to received practice SAT questions via e-mail.
