After School Pick-UP:
- IMPORTANT INFO FOR PICKING UP CHILDREN AT VCS:
*School dismisses at 3:10 p.m. *When parents begin arriving for pickup, they need to make one straight line heading South on Ward. Students will be dismissed ONE AT A TIME through the gate to the SOUTH of the School Sign and LAMPPOST. *The first car should be even with the last orange cone. Remaining parents will make one line on Ward Road.- You will be given a YELLOW piece of construction paper with the last name of your family on it. Please display this sign in your vehicle when picking up students. The line will always go faster after every car consistently displays this sign in the window. Feel free to have your sign displayed already on the first day of school.
*The first car in line will be asked for the family name, and those children will be asked to step forward. We will continue to load cars and move families forward when it is evident that it is safe to do so. Please watch staff members as they move you forward.
*If your child is being picked up by someone other than his/her parent, please send a note with your child or call the office by 2:30 p.m. to speed the pick-up process. *Once we start putting kids in cars, it should take only take ten minutes to get everyone on their way! This only works if we continue to follow the instructions of the VCS staff on moving your car forward and staying in line. This will lead to more order, better management of traffic, and a safer environment for the children.
*Do not park in front of the parking lot exit. Leave an opening until it is your turn to move forward. Do not get out of your car. We will come to you. Do not block the subdivision exits and entrances.
*Bus pick-up and drop off area is along Ward Road on the west side of the road to the south of the entrance. Do not park your car to the south of the double orange cones.
*No student is allowed to walk home without written permission from the parent. Please submit this to the office or send with your child.
*Please do not go down to the classrooms without signing in at the office and getting a visitor pass.
*If you are picking up middle or high school students who tend not to get to the pick-up area until 3:20, please wait to get in the pick-up line until 3:20. This will make it much easier for us to move the line quickly.
WITH THIS IN MIND, PLEASE RESPECT THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES: 1. Do not pull up on the opposing side of Ward. Students will not be allowed to cross to your car. You will be instructed to get back into the pick-up line. This is for student safety. 2. Please stay in your cars. This process will only work if we are all doing the same thing.
3. Do not expect the safety rules to be broken because you are in a hurry. Student safety is our priority. If you schedule an appointment for your child, come to the office ten minutes before school releases and pick your child up. Call by 2:30 p.m. for any route changes otherwise we can't guarantee they will receive the notification.
4. Do not attempt to get your child out of the bus line or off a bus. Ask a staff member or go the office to get help. This is to ensure the safety of all students.
