Dear Parents:
It is with extreme sadness and a heavy heart that I should have to notify you that one of our beloved staff members, Darrell Downam, passed away this morning. He was taken away in an ambulance and was not able to be revived.
For those of you who may not know, Darrell handled all of our IT needs at the school. He always had a smile on his face and his quick wit and sense of humor kept us all laughing. Darrell was admired and loved by all students and faculty members. He was a wonderful man and we will all greatly miss him.
To celebrate his life, we will be holding an all school Memorial Service in his honor on Monday, May 9th, at 1:00. Students and faculty members will have the opportunity to share their stories and feelings for Darrell at that time. If your students have a story, picture, or note that they would like to have be included in a scrapbook that will be given to the family, please have these items here by 10 a.m. on Monday. Parents are invited to attend and you may sign your student out and leave after the service is over if you wish; otherwise students will go home in their usual way.
If you feel your student needs to be out of school on Monday or Tuesday to mourn, it will be considered an excused absence. If you have a student that you feel may need to see our School Counselor to process this, please contact the school at 455-9220 or email me at wendyroldenkamp@msn.com.
