Greetings!

CALLING ALL PARENTS OF FUTURE 6^th GRADERS!!! We are doubling sixth grade next year. If you have friends who want to get their children into Vision Charter School, this is the time to fill out the application found at visioncharter.net! We are adding 33 new sixth graders next year. Invite your interested friends to call the school at 455-9220 to make an appointment for a tour!

LOTTERY: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Vision Charter School will hold its lottery for enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year beginning at 9:30 a.m. on March 18, 2011. Applications are being accepted right now for the 2011-2012 school year. VCS is a FREE public charter school!

Go to visioncharterschool.net to download an application. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 11^th and if hand delivered, no later than 4 p.m. on March 15, 2011. Applications received after March 15, 2011 will be placed into the pool for the following year.

Vision Charter School offers students a small and safe school environment. Its accelerated curriculum is rooted in a classical education and emphasizes character and leadership development, arts and science instruction, gifted and talented curriculum for all students, and music training. Qualifying students at VCS are offered dual credit classes starting in the ninth grade.

This is the time to fill out an application! We are growing! We are adding a doubled sixth grade class and an eleventh grade class!

All prospective students, grades Kindergarten through 11^th, will be given the opportunity to enroll in the free public charter school, regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, social or economic status, or special needs.

MASQUERADE BALL

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Student Government will be putting on the MASQUERADE BALL for all middle and high school students on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Students are able to bring TWO friends by submitting a "friend application" for approval to Mrs. OldenKamp by February 24, 2011. Applications may be picked up in the office. The cost is $6 or students may show their VCS activity card. Dancing, live music, food, and mask making will take place during the event! The event will be held at the O'Connor Field House in Caldwell. Students are expected to wear semi-formal, formal, costume, or "dress their best". Masks are required or students may make a mask at the door. This will be a wonderful evening of fun!

DRAMA:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

VCS Drama Club will be performing two plays in the spring, Tom Sawyer the musical and Mixed-up Fairy Tales. We are pleased to have the Nampa Civic Center for our performances and will feature one as a matinee and one as an evening show, both on April 12th.

2010/2011 Vision Charter School Snow Team

The Snow Team finished strong in its last two races of the season. The sixth race and the Dotty Clark Championships ended well with four racers winning medals and ribbons in the championships. All of the racers showed tremendous improvement over the course of the season and had a great time as well.

Race 6 Results-February 12th

Middle School team placed 17^th out of 37 teams

Haven Johnson- 2nd place intermediate ski freestyle, 2^nd place novice ski slalom

Danny VanMaanen-12^th place novice ski slalom

Mason Arnold- 49^th place novice snowboard slalom

Ricky Stephens- 17th place novice snowboard slalom

High School Team placed 7^th out of 12 teams

Piper Gerdes-6^th place novice snowboard slalom

Brandon Teeter-1^st place intermediate snowboard slalom

Keaton Wright-2^nd place intermediate snowboard slalom

Dotty Clark Championship results-February 17^th, 18^th

Middle School team placed 31^st out of 41 teams
