~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vision Charter School will hold its lottery for enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year beginning at 9:30 a.m. on March 18, 2011. Applications are being accepted right now for the 2011-2012 school year. VCS is a FREE public charter school!
Go to visioncharterschool.net to download an application. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 11th and if hand delivered, no later than 4 p.m. on March 15, 2011. Applications received after March 15, 2011 will be placed into the pool for the following year.
Vision Charter School offers students a small and safe school environment. Its accelerated curriculum is rooted in a classical education and emphasizes character and leadership development, arts and science instruction, gifted and talented curriculum for all students, and music training. Qualifying students at VCS are offered dual credit classes starting his/her ninth grade year.
This is the time to fill out an application! We are growing! We are adding a doubled fifth grade class and an eleventh grade class!
All prospective students, grades Kindergarten through 11th, will be given the opportunity to enroll in the free public charter school, regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, social or economic status, or special needs.

DEBATE: We are pleased to announce the formation of a Debate Club starting in February! Students in 7th-10th grade are invited to join the debate club. The team will meet on Tuesdays from 3:10-4:30 during February and March! Tournaments will be held in March. This team is free to all! Watch for more information to come. Attention all Skiers and Snowboarders!
Any student grades 6-10 interested in having a lot of fun at Bogus Basin this year should join the Snow Team. It is for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities with competition in both racing and free-ride rails and jumps.
The ski races start January 8th for six consecutive Saturdays with the Dottie Clark Championships on February 17th and 18th.

Christmas Vacation: NO SCHOOL December 20-31st. We will see you back at VCS on January 3rd, 2011.
Coming up shortly is the Winter Wonderland Dance for the High Schooler's. This will be a semi formal dance with great music, food, and dancing. It will be held on January 13th from 6:30 to 9:30pm at the Middleton Trolley Station. Students may bring one approved friend to the social. $6 tickets will be sold the week of the social, so don't forget to purchase one and join us at this wonderful event!
Middle School students will be able to join in a MOVIE NIGHT on Thursday, January 13th! Tickets will be sold the week of the event. Students may also use their activity card for entry into this event. Don't forget- students must have all C's or above to attend.
NO SCHOOL FRIDAY, JANUARY 14, 2010 AND MONDAY, JANUARY 17, 2010.
Thursday, January 20, 2010 is the VCS 4TH-10TH grade Ski Night at Bogus Basin! Ask your child to pick up the packet in the office if you would like them to attend. Registration deadline is January 10th and the trip is Thursday, January 20th. The bus will depart at 4 pm from Vision and will return around 11 pm to the VCS parking lot. The cost is $25.00 which includes the lift ticket, rentals, lesson, and the bus ride. If your child does not need a lift ticket or rental the cost is $15.00.
We have enough chaperones and have a waiting list started! If you would like to chaperone, drive your own car, and provide your own lift ticket if skiing, we would love to have you attend! | NEWSWORTHY ITEMS:

**Over thanksgiving, VCS staff delivered turkeys, gift certificates, boxes of canned food, and perishable items to 14 Vision Charter Families who were struggling financially this winter season. Cheers to all of the VCS families who donated canned food, turkeys, money, gift certificates, and perishable items to help bring a wonderful holiday to so many families! Thank you to the Vision Charter School Student Government and Leadership Class who organized the activity. **We received a grant from Windermere Foundation for $1300 and used it to help provide coats, gloves, hats, presents, and clothes for 19 VCS children. **A Vision Charter School tenth grade Student Government member, Mikayla Riley, organized 17 middle and high school students to visit the residents of Autumn Winds this Christmas Season. Students enjoyed singing to the residents, talking with them, and playing board games. Students liked it so much that they are planning to continue to visit the residents on a regular basis! **Mr. George's Concurrent College Anatomy and Physiology class spent the day at NNU this month. Thank you to the Science Department at NNU for inviting (and paying) for the students to join in the science class, visit the science lab with cadavers, tour the school, and eat lunch in the cafeteria. Students enjoyed the field trip and onsite university experience! ** VCS just received a $100,000 gift from Albertson's foundation. Thank you to the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation for their generous support of school choice for Idaho students! |
