**Please understand that this was a persuasive essay written in attempt to encourage the voters and judges to select their cause. Vision Charter Students are able to eat inside during lunch every day of the year if they choose. Our students have PE in the music room or classroom if the weather is inclement.**

FAMILY FUN

Fred Meyer Fund has made a very generous gift to the Discovery Center of $100,000. This money will be used to help fund a new community program at the Discovery Center called Freddy's Fridays. Starting on Friday, August 6th, and running through Friday, November 19th, the Discovery Center will NOT charge admission to visitors for 16 consecutive Fridays! Add to that our new extended Friday operating hours, from 9AM to 7PM, and we offer full, fun and free days for the entire family at the Discovery Center!

STUDENT LED CONFERENCES / TITLE 1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 

PARENTS AND STUDENTS are invited to attend the Parent/Teacher Conferences based on the schedule listed below.

Primary  K-1st

Parent -Teacher Conferences have been scheduled with each student's family.
 
Elementary 2nd-6th 
Wednesday, October 27   5-8pm Parent/Teacher scheduled conferences
Thursday, October 28th   8-noon  or 2-7 drop in student led conferences
  
7th-10th grade
Wednesday, October 27  5-8pm Student Led Conferences
Thursday, October 28 8am-12  and 2-7pm Parent/Teacher Scheduled Conferences
 
**You will be contacted by Monday, October 25th if will need to attend a scheduled parent/teacher conference. These individual conferences are only for students struggling academically or behaviorally.  All other students will be participating in the drop-in student led conferences. 
 
All parents of Title 1 students are invited to attend the Title 1 Meetings in C1 on the following dates and times:  
Wednesday, October 27 at 6pm and again at 7pm
Thursday, October 28th at 7pm
 
Parents will learn about ways to partner with VCS and to assist their child with academics. Parents will have an opportunity to review the draft Parent/Student Compact and Parent Involvement Policy. If you are handicapped and need special assistance in order to attend this planning meeting, VCS will assist you with a reasonable accommodation. Please contact Mrs. OldenKamp at

November 1st PFA meeting at 3:15pm in I2. Babysitting provided!

 

Cold weather is here! The Lost and Found is overflowing with coats. Please place your child's name on the tag of their coat. The Lost and Found items will be displayed during the PT conferences. Please go through the clothes thoroughly. We will be donating the left over items to needy families on October 29, 2010.


A Fun, Fantastic, Fall Festival, performed by kindergarten and 1st grade:
Nov. 2 at 11:30 in the music room
Nov. 3 at 1:00 in the music room
Please plan on attending only one performance in order to give all who want to attend the opportunity to have a seat.  Older siblings wishing to watch may be checked out by parents for the program and then checked back in to school after the program.  We look forward to seeing you there.  

 

Come join the celebration on NOV 5th as VCS students celebrate the classic novel, Wind in the Willows. Students are invited to dress as a character from the book to culminate the study of this novel. Watch for additional information from your child's classroom teacher. You are encouraged to read the book at home as a family in the month of October.

November 18th, THE SCIENCE FAIR HAS BEEN MOVED. Tentatively, MS/HS will be in February and Elementary will be in May. More details will be sent out soon.

November 22nd-26th THANKSGIVING VACATION


December 15th at 7pm --Whole School Christmas Program at Sage Valley.
