 Loafing

I admit it.  I have been loafing!!!

Is it me or has this been the lovliest summer in a long time (present week exclued)?  All through the exhibit season, Melanie, Floyd and I don't get a lot of weekends off and I admit it's been really nice to get away to play some golf and read books.  Melanie just got back from a two week missions trip to Peru.  And.....we sincerely hope your summer is going well too.

We haven't been total beach bums though.  Next year's season is mostly lined up.   So let us share a glimpse of the upcoming 2012-2013 season:

  • September 14 - Black, White And Red opens
  • November - Reading - Berks Holiday Craft Show
  • December & January - Handmade Holidays 3
  • Winter (Feb/Mar) - Solo Exhibit - Kara Muise
  • April - June - Spring Exhibit - TBA

 Reminder to our artists:

  • Enjoy the 4th, but don't forget that submissions are due for Black, White & Red  (BWR) on July 21st
  • Also, (and here's where I need to get my rear in gear too), Handmade Holidays 3 will follow right behind that exhibit.  Start producing your fabulous functional art for sale.  The holiday season is a great time to sell your work.  Watch for that prospectus soon.  Keep in mind that during the holiday we open up the whole gallery and invite functional art from all mediums and not just fiber.  Don't forget to make some things for men too.  We had some complaints from the men that they were largely forgotten last year.
  • The year round boutique will be looking to be restocked late August in time for the opening of BWR -  Boutique artists ... time to get to work!!!

Art in Unexpected Places
Last summer Floyd and I spent 3 weeks in England and Ireland.   I thought I'd share some shots I classified in my digital diary as 'art in unexpected places'
I really loved this wire menagerie in the Tower of London.  (Who knew the Tower was not a tower but a huge castle complex?....but I digress).  I hope you can see a bit of the close up as I really think this was chicken wire or something similar.
Perhaps as the summer goes along, I'll share some other finds from my diary.
