Melanie trains the next generation @ closing reception of Felt So Good |
It takes time to tear down one exhibit and begin the set up of the next. All that precious artwork has to get picked up and/or shipped out. At the same time, the next exhibit is coming in the door and in the case of Handmade Holidays 2, it is lots and lots of wonderful work to check in.
Have you ever noticed on the day you don't do the dishes or put on your makeup, you can guarantee you'll have someone surprise you with a visit? Well, that's how it is at STL at the moment. The place is a wreck!!!! Christmas decorations are everywhere and some construction is taking place to transform the gallery into boutique for the month of December. Saturday was just plain nutty (and fun). In the midst of all this delightful chaos, we actually entertained some customers who shopped despite the mess AND (brave souls) promised they'd come back when we weren't between shows. Just for fun....here's a day in the life of 'some things looming' between exhibits:
- Meet with Albright University about a joint winter exhibit for this February 2012.
- Handmade Holiday 2 Artist Intake: 1 artist / hour - Ah...yeah...like that went as planned.
- Direct work on security cameras and answer questions in between talking about next exhbit and doing HH2 intake.
- Follow up on today's Saturday Sampler
- Pay the artist/teacher!
- Interview intern from Kutztown University (yay!!!...more hands to help)
- Greet several very brave boutique customers (honestly the place was a wreck) Ring up their purchases and introduce them to Esmerelda.
- Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork....ugh!
- Dinner and reflection on just how blessed we are. We're having a ball doing what we LOVE!
