WOW! Time sure flies when you are having fun! Can you believe the kids (and some of you teachers) will be heading back to school before you know it. As for us? Well we've managed to find a little time to rest and play this summer while working on the upcoming year off and on too.
And....Oh. My. Goodness! We have such a busy and exciting year planned ahead so be sure to keep an eye on our newsletters as we tell you about and remind you of all the upcoming special events.
Saturday Samplers:
We have several new artists sharing their talents in some new fiber arts crafts such as basketry, straw art, felting, and more. Here's one for you. Suminagashi....sum...ah...what? It's the art of Japanese marbling and you can do some creative things with paper and fabric using the technique. We'll all learn more. See below. We also have several more classes in the development stage. Keep an eye on your newsletters and our web site.
Workshops:
The PA Craft Guild will sponsor an indepth Shibori workshop this Spring with Kachina Martin. Want to get a taste, a sample of this technique before you take it? Watch for Kachina's sampler's where she'll begin to introduce you to this technique.

Boutique and Handmade Holidays 2:
Keep the boutique and Handmade Holidays 2 in mind when looking for that special gift for that special someone. The boutique re-opens on September 10th with the opening of our newest exhibit: Felt So Good.
Handmade Holidays 2 turns the entire gallery into boutique. Last year was fun and the shoppers and artists alike enjoyed the event. We've had great interest already in this year's event from artists in all areas of craft. We think that the shopping experience this holiday season is going to be even better than last.
Exhibits:
I just finished sending out the acceptance letters to the artists participating in Felt So Good. Once again, I'm full of excitement as I look at the variety of work submitted. You are in for a treat and a new appreciation of this art form.
Philadelphia 2012 is the fiber arts biennial. This year, 'some things looming' is very excited that we will be participating in this event as a venue. Warren Seelig, a one time resident of Berks County and professor at University of the Arts, Philadelphia has agreed to jury this Spring, 2012 exhibit. It's title will be: Refuse/Re-seen. We'll be putting the final touches on the prospectus in the next few weeks. Stay tuned but start thinking reuse.

We love it when you visit.
Don't forget that any Saturday (other than holiday weekends) we invite you to bring your handwork projects and sit in the classrooms, the courtyard....wherever you are comfortable and work from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. It's a nice way to force yourself to work on and finish your projects.
If you have a question and we know they answer, we're happy to visit and help you. We just ask you do the same for someone when you know the answer. Sometimes our Saturday Sampler students like to keep working on their projects even after the class is over and this studio time lets them keep going.
School Art Programs:
We just finished an all day workshop with Boyertown School on fiber art. It was a lot of fun for us and we hear we feed you pretty well too.
Our Muhlenberg students are finding a way to come over and use our facility thanks to the dedication and innovation of their teacher. We're excited to see how it all works out.
Part of our mission is to encourage and promote fiber art to the next generation. We're very open to ways in which we serve the community in this area.
Well, I'm so energized now thinking of all the exciting activity already in place for the 2011-2012 season and there's still a few things yet in the planning stage.
Enjoy the rest of August but start putting our Fall events on your calendar. See below for more details.
All my best,
