Saturday Samplers
Week of January 31, 2011

Because sometimes you just want a little taste of something new....and something old, 'some things looming' (STL), Saturday Samplers presents an "Introduction to Tatting" with Elizabeth Zipay, artist/instructor.

Elizabeth Elizabeth has been creating tatted lace jewelry for over fifteen years.  After learning tatting from her paternal grandmother, she worked to develop a contemporary expression of this classic form of lace-making.  She uses her tatting in a fresh and modern way, but one that still allows it to be displayed and easily identified as this beautiful old craft.

Students will be introduced to basic tatting techniques including the knot, rings, and Zipay-blackandcopperchains. Students who learn the technique should be able to complete a four ring butterfly.  A shuttle and enough thread for practice and to complete the butterfly will be provided. If desired, students can purchase a kit (at additional charge) that will enable them to make a pair of butterfly earrings.

Join us February 5th at 10 AM.  Saturday Samplers encourages walk-in students.  The class fee is $50.00 for a walk-in.   Want to save a little and guarantee there's room for you?  Prepay and Register below and save 10.00.  Class size is limited to please sign up early!
