Make some plans to visit us this weekend!!!

Shake off the winter doldrums!

Despite the prediction of arctic temperatures, it's supposed to be a nice 'DRY' weekend.

Join us this Saturday morning when Saturday Samplers start back up again.  (We've gotten a nice response to our first samplers - so don't wait, sign up below if you are interested while there's still room.)

Learn the basic wire wrap and make two pairs of earrings

Come back on Sunday to see how Kathryn transforms the gallery using all the wrapping paper we collected for her after the holidays.  (I admit I'm getting a little curious myself.)

Wrap It Up, Already:

patterns, procrastination and resolve

a gallery installation by textile/visual artist,

January 23rd- February 27th, 2011

January 23rd - 2nd Sunday

10:00 - 3:00 PM

Reception 1:00 - 3:00 PM

After the holidays , while prepping  for a new year  & decade,   it is not uncommon to reflect on the past, and  create  for the future.  This gallery installation is a somber glimpse into the conceptual   world  of the 'stuff' we are made  of,  of the 'piles' of  demands  and  expectations  we place  on ourselves  as we navigate thru the world  of  our own hopes  and  dreams;  and  the illusions of importance  and  purpose.

Sometimes loss and rejection  propel  us to something greater;  sometimes sheer  determination  gets us to move along forward  to  find beauty and  meaning.  In this exhibit, each  'packet'  contains the essence  of completion  & renewal ; the promise of  direction  & instruction in its own beautiful foreign language.

Loss and  Found

Can I know you again?

feel the flight of hours as I touch your hand

no  paper   loose   gone    no glass bottle   curbside waiting

there 's a man with his pushcart

has he felt a hand  on his beard  other  than his own?

there's  a woman  whose brother  died

will she now always  be afraid  of water?

all this sadness

all from separation

all this struggle   just to enter the morning gracefully

If I swept the curbside  clean

where  would I put the pile?

and  if I hid the pile well

still my knowing  would  infect me
