Elizabeth Zipay - Tatting Demo
Saturday, December 11, 2010
TATTING is a form of lacemaking consisting of knotting threads into rings and chains, creating beautiful patterns of open and closed space. Tatting as we know it today developed sometime around the middle of the 19th century, though it can also be linked to the ancient art of knotting.Elizabeth learned tatting from her grandmother, who used her tatting in the traditional way of edging lines and creating beautiful doilies. Her jewelry developed as she searched for a modern expression of this classic form of lace-making.
Handmade Holidays features a wide variety of Elizabeth's beautiful and unique jewelry.
Elizabeth will be on hand on Saturday to say hello, tell you about her work and demonstrating some tatting.
