Estate Planning
Estate PlansWhether it is simple and straight forward, or more complex, everyone needs an estate plan. Here are six important reasons why:

Protecting Beneficiaries - It is very important to create an estate plan that protects beneficiaries who are minors and adult beneficiaries from making poor financial decisions or being negatively influenced by others.

Choosing Guardians - If both parents of a child die without a will, the court will appoint a guardian. This may or may not be the person that the parent(s) would have chosen. A will gives the parent(s) the opportunity to consider the child/children's best interest and choose a guardian.

Reduce Estate Taxes - Through basic estate planning, married couples can significantly reduce the estate tax burden that is placed on their beneficiaries.

Create a Trust - Make sure assets are available on a later date for beneficiaries at the time of distribution.

Avoid Probate - If a person dies without a will, the court will appoint a representative to distribute the property based on hereditary succession pursuant to state law. Probate generally lasts several months and incurs substantial court and attorney costs.

Peace of Mind - Once your estate plan is completed, you will have the benefit of knowing that you have taken those important steps to protect yourself, your beneficiaries and your assets.
