Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Maine Senior College Network e-newsletter! This will be a monthly newsletter sent to all subscribing members of the network at the end of each month. We encourage you all to submit items for inclusion in future issues. Please send us anything that you think might be of interest to members of other senior colleges in Maine. Is your senior college sponsoring an event in your area that you would like to publicize? An upcoming trip that has some spaces available? Would you like to see a profile of one of your fellow members? Perhaps you have a successful class idea you know others would love to learn about? We invite you to send in photographs of your senior college gatherings, copies of art work and poems or essays!

Acute Wordectomy
A poem I treasured was nearly done I had strived and stretched for near perfection It lacked clichés, tired metaphors and puns thus requiring no major correction
Then, one unseemly word jumped from the page Why hadn't I discovered it before? Critics would bellow - incorrect usage This a predicament not to ignore
They would label the word - ostentatious The poet's witless attempt to impress Any synonyms just as audacious Instant removal the only redress
And so, by deleting just this one word my treasured poem won't be judged absurd

We will also provide you with copies of the MSCN map and contact information for all the senior colleges that you can use as a handout and a sign-up sheet for you to gather contact information from attendees.
