Entries for $80,000 Portland Meadows Oaks Close January 17
The richest purse for the 2010-11 Portland Meadows season will be the $80,000 offered in the open Portland Meadows Oaks to be run on January 29. The mile race for sophomore fillies is one of three Thoroughbred stakes offered on the Saturday card, which will also feature the $25,000 Governor's Speed Handicap, a six-panel race for runners three and up, and the $11,000 McFadden Memorial Invitational for three-year-olds at a mile. Entries for all three stakes close January 17.
The Portland Meadows Oaks replaced the Oregon Oaks and is offered as a springboard to the Black-Eyed Susan 2.2 bonus program which will award $2.2-million in bonus money to the filly who can sweep the Portland Meadows Oaks, Santa Anita Oaks (G1), Gulfstream Park Oaks and finish up with a victory in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2) run at Pimlico the day before the Preakness Stakes (G1). |
