The adult learning center
is growing!!!
Noel's Adult Learning Center, the computer and GED class for adults, has grown so much that a new classroom is being added to the existing program. Community Renewal, which runs the program, has provided another teacher for the additional classroom and hopes to also begin offering college level classes by late September. There are a total of twenty students now enrolled in the two ALC classes which meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church. Volunteers are needed to help tutor and assist the students on all of these days. If you are interested, contact Angie Nelson, coordinator of the program, at 425-3200.
Thanks to the Grayson Foundation, Noel has been able to purchase the equipment needed for these classrooms. Members of the Upper Room Class, led by Skip Buford, (see photos below) assisted in putting the equipment together and getting the room set up. Many thanks to them and to others who have volunteered and supported the ALC class since it began in November of 2008. We are excited to see this outreach ministry grow to help adults achieve their educational goals and get a new start in life.

"Life in the fast lane"
Topics for teens & Adults
If ur a teenager, why is it that ur parents just don't get it? If ur a parent, what's the one piece of wisdom u want ur teens to take with them? Is ur schedule so packed that u don't know whether ur coming or going? How can u really talk 2 each other when texting is the norm? And if ur a parent, how can ur teen understand the difference between long-term goals and short-term fun?
Join us beginning September 12 for this new series as Rev. Flint Shea offers some practical and biblical insights on topics that teens and parents wrestle with every day.
September 12: "From Texting to Talking"
September 19: "Dad, I Need Some Money"
September 26: "Hindsight is 20/20: What Parents Wish Their Kids Knew"
October 3: "I'm Not You: What Kids Wish Their Parents Understood"
Want to be part of the discussion? Email your thoughts on the last two topics to mail@noelumc.org or visit our website at www.noelumc.org/teens.
A CD of the entire sermon series will be available in the church office when the series is complete. Call 221-5207. |
