During July 19-23, Noel's Vacation Bible School Galactic Blast was just that-A BLAST! Over 200 kids attended during the course of the week, enjoying great praise and worship experiences and tasty snacks. They made some cool crafts and heard inspiring Bible stories, before jumping endlessly in the space jump. It took lots of volunteers to make the week a success. There were over 100 volunteers who gave of their time to make sure that the kids had a meaningful, fun, safe adventure. Thanks to everyone who gave their time, their dollars, the bottle caps, and their prayers for VBS 2010.

election of church officers
Every congregation in The United Methodist Church elects its leaders annually in the fall at a meeting called "Charge Conference" scheduled by the District Superintendent. In keeping with The United Methodist Book of Discipline, we will be electing the following officers at Charge Conference: Committee on Nominations and Leadership Development (a 3-year term with 3 seats available); Staff-Parish Relations Committee (a 3-year term with 3 seats available); Board of Trustees (a 3-year term with 3 seats available); Finance Committee (a one-year term with 3 seats available); two Lay Delegates to the Annual Conference (a one-year term); the Lay Leader (a one-year term); and the Chairperson of the Church Council (a one-year term). If you are interested in being elected as a church officer, the first step is to attend the last of two orientation meetings this Sunday, August 15, at 9:45 a.m. in Lane Chapel. Only those who attend one of the orientation meetings will be considered for election at the Charge Conference scheduled for Monday, November 1, at 5:30 p.m., in Fellowship Hall where our new District Superintendent, the Rev. Dr. Donald Avery, will preside.

"The Lord's Prayer"
Current Sermon Series
You've prayed it a thousand times. You can say it without even thinking about it. It's probably the most widely known and frequently prayed prayer of all time. Throughout the past two thousand years, it has been spoken in services of worship, in times of personal crisis, and at the graveside of a loved one.
When they asked him, these were the words Jesus taught his disciples to pray. So, of all the words he could have chosen, why these? Of all the things to pray for, why these?
During this series of sermons, may the words of the Lord's Prayer draw you closer to your heavenly Father; may they become your daily bread; and may they be a foretaste of the kingdom, and the power, and the glory that lasts forever.
July 25 "Our Father"
August 1 "Thy Kingdom Come"
August 8 "Give Us This Day"
August 15 "Forgive Us Our Trespasses"
August 22 "Lead Us Not Into Temptation"
August 29 "The Kingdom,
and the Power,
and the Glory, Forever"
Missed a Sunday? Copies of each sermon will be available on CD in the Church Office. Call 221-5207. |

Noel neighborhood ministries
The Noel Neighborhood Ministries Food Pantry is a far reaching ministry. Not only does it provide food and supplies for our community, it also provides the gift of giving back. Hundreds of volunteers from Noel, as well as those in the community, have had the blessing of giving to others through volunteering. If you haven't had the opportunity, sign up, it's a treat!

Middle and High Schoolers from Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi recently bagged sugar at Noel's Food Pantry. The kids were participating in "Summer Celebration," a weekend-long mission program in the area.

boy scouts pitching in
Several of the boys from Noel's Boy Scout Troop 15 helped unload the truck at Noel Neighborhood Ministries. If you are interested in helping in this important mission, the Food Pantry needs people with strong backs 1-2 hours on a Wednesday usually once a month. For more information, contact Susan Foster at 424-0434.
