"Breathe In...Breathe Out"
"Thus says the Lord God to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you and you shall live. "
- Ezekiel 37:5
It really began with the Easter Meal that Saturday. I walked in the door and was overwhelmed. The aroma of smoked chicken, the busy bees in the kitchen, the laughter. And the helpers! O my, the helpers. And of every age imaginable. All working together to serve God and neighbor. What a day!
And then, the parade of palms. Into the church they processed. Following some guy with a trombone (Go, Doug Peterson!) who looked like he had done this a time or two, and who, I might add, seemed to be having more fun than the kids, who, by the way, couldn't wait to go hunt some eggs, which, by the way, seemed to be more numerous than the stars!
"The Seven Last Words of Christ" - I'd heard them many times. But to sit in the stillness of the Sanctuary every single night and hear them again...for the first time...until He breathed His last.
Consider the lilies. What a glorious morning Sunday was! They said there were 558 people here on Easter morning. It simply took my breath away. The sound of the singing. I could hear it in my ears and feel it in my bones.
Can these bones live? "O Lord God, you know." And the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood on their feet, a vast multitude.
Can these bones live? "O my Noel, you know." And the breath came into them, and they went forth to exhale into the world.
I'll see you at the "living, breathing, serving, laughing, singing, feel-the-Spirit-of-God-in-your-bones" place this Sunday,
Flint

Mission in motion

Mission possible kids
On Saturday, April 3, the Mission Possible Kids played "Easter Bunny" by assembling and delivering 20 Easter baskets to the Salvation Army. Each basket contained candy donated by the Mission Possible Kids, a stuffed bunny, some play dough, and a book. Due to the holiday weekend and other conflicts, we had a smaller group than usual, but the Mission Possible Kids who were able to attend did a fantastic job. They even had to "sample" some of the candy, just to make sure it was OK to give away! A big thanks goes to Rachel Scott for organizing the trip to this great, local facility. |
