Juniors Selected for State Leadership Conference

MHS juniors Michaela Bowes and Gregory Donahue have been selected to represent the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) at the 2011 New England Student Leadership Conference. The conference will take place July 21-24 at Stonehill College in Easton, MA.
Participation in this conference is a unique opportunity that only a select number of students from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island and New Hampshire are offered. The goal of this conference is to assist high school student-athletes in developing their leadership abilities. The conference will focus on respect, positive values, perspective, sportsmanship, teamwork, healthy lifestyles and community service.
At the conclusion of the conference, Michaela and Greg will have the opportunity to apply for a position on the 2011-12 MIAA Student Advisory Committee. Congratulations to these fine students on their selection! |
SSC Partners Again With Keep Mansfield Beautiful

Once again, the MHS Student Service Corps has partnered with Keep Mansfield Beautiful on a project to gentrify our community. A week ago students from the group painted the Spring St. Bridge, a bridge that desperately needed a coat of paint and was littered with graffitti. Earlier in the year they had done the same to the Otis Street Bridge.
Many thanks to the following students in SSC who participated in this worthwhile project: Shannon Mowles, '11, Josh Levine, '12, Jordan Briseno, '13, Hannah Haleudeth, '13, Kelly McGee, '13, and Jack Holliver (Xaverian Bros HS) . These students are positive role models for other students and the town is fortunate to reap the benefits of the group's commitment to the community. |
MHS Guidance Department News & Notes...
Attendance appeals are due on Wednesday, June 22nd to the main office. Students who are in jeopardy of losing credit because they have exceeded the absence allotment as stated in the handbook should pick up an appeal form in the main office. If your child has a question about the number of absences they have in a class he/she should talk with his/her teacher.
Attention Class of 2011 parents: the guidance office automatically sends out final transcripts to colleges/universities. Students do not need to complete an additional transcript release form or pay a fee. Students indicated to their counselor where they are going to college through an exit survey and the guidance office will mail them out by June 30th.

Another Amazing Performance by Josh Lampron, '12
MHS junior runner Josh Lampron won the New Balance Boys' HS Mile Race on Saturday night in Greensboro NC. His winning time of 4:05.99 to Jantzen Oshier's (CA) 4:06.00 was a photo finish! Josh blasted a ferocious last 200 meters to catch 3 runners on the final straightaway. Below is a link to the video of this national race:
