MHS Senior Project Looking for Parent Evaluators

We would like to invite you to participate as an evaluator of the Mansfield High School Senior Project presentations on Thursday May 12, 2011. Eleven Mansfield High School students are taking part in this year's Senior Project Program.
In Senior Project, students select a topic or area of study which they have a real desire and passion to explore. The students then develop and work on their project throughout the year school year under the guidance of a mentor. The three phases of the Senior Project include sixteen hours of fieldwork on a topic of the student's choice, an eight to ten page research paper on a related topic, and a presentation before a community board to share their experience and what they accomplished. Senior projects this year include: organizing a trip to the Gulf Coast to work on oil spill cleanup, calculating Mansfield High School's carbon footprint, creating a fashion line, and restarting the Rachel's Challenge Program to name a few.
Students have recently finished their research papers and are now preparing for their final presentations. This is where we need your help. The students will be presenting their projects on May 12th to the Senior Project Board- a panel of teachers and community members that evaluate their presentations. We would like you to participate in the evaluation of our student's presentations. These presentations will allow our students to connect and interact with members of their community as they demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have acquired through their project.
If you are interested in volunteering as an evaluator please e-mail Ben Caisse by April 15, 2011. We thank you in advance for your consideration and time and we appreciate your support with this exciting opportunity for our students! |
The 2011 Percussion Ensemble: New England Champs!

On Saturday, April 2, 2011 the Mansfield High School Percussion Ensemble captured their fourth straight New England Championship with a score of 94.05, beating their next closest competitor by nearly four points. The ensemble had their finest show of the season with an intense and emotional effort in their performance of their program entitled "Goodnight". This is the second year in a row the ensemble has won their class as a marching unit. The final stop of the season is Dayton, Ohio where the group will compete against 59 other groups from around the country in an attempt to capture their 3rd World Championship. The ensemble leaves on April 12 to compete in the World Championship competition. They will be presenting a send off performance at 8pm on April 11 in the MHS gym. This is free to the public and all are invited to attend. Congratulations to the students for their success and good luck in Ohio! |
Mansfield Relay for Life to Host "Cocktails for a Cure"

Winston Churchill once said, "You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give." And with over 3,000 people being diagnosed with cancer each day, giving to an organization that helps those people may be a good way to "make a life".
The 2011 Relay for Life of Mansfield Committee will be hosting "Cocktails For A Cure" on Friday, April 29, 2011, from 7 - 10 p.m., at the TPC Tournament Players Club House, Norton, MA. Come join us for a night of cocktails, hors devors, entertainment, celebrating, remembering, and fighting back. Tickets are $75.00 for individuals and $125.00 for couples, and are on sale until April 26, 2011, at Mansfield Bank, Main St, Mansfield; Glee Gifts, Mansfield Crossing; or by contacting Patti Hallgren at phallgren1@hotmail.com.
Come spend a fun evening helping those who want more evenings, fun or mundane, in their lives! |
Register Today for the Great Mansfield Cleanup!

Each year on a spring Saturday, students, parents, business owners, and other residents gather to give the town of Mansfield a thorough spring cleaning. Volunteers fan out across town to pick up the trash that litters our roadsides, parks, schools, and other public areas. The day concludes with a free picnic at the VIP Tent at the Comcast Center.
During the first Great American Cleanup of Mansfield in May 2008, more than 1,000 volunteers removed nearly five tons of litter and debris from roadsides and parks, including 200 bags of recyclables and more than 100 tires. Last year's cleanup was another great success, and we're looking to make the 2011 cleanup even better.
Mansfield's volunteers join millions of others from across the nation in the Great American Cleanup between March 1 and May 31. Keep America Beautiful, the organization that created the Great American Cleanup, expects 3 million volunteers will participate in 30,000 community improvement activities and educational workshops in 17,000 communities nationwide this year. Activities include removing litter, beautifying parks, organizing a recycling or graffiti removal program, and other projects.
Come join us- for even an hour- on Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. To register online, please click here.
Come and make a difference in our community!
