Good morning!

I have a couple of things to share this morning.  First, this is an important week at MHS as Wednesday marks the last day of the second trimester.  Therefore, our exam period begins today.  For students finishing a two-trimester class core academic class or a one-trimester elective, there will be a final exam and for those students finishing the first half of a two-trimester class, there will be a midterm exam.  The exam schedule is as follows:

Monday, 3/28:        Period 1 Class Exam: 12:25-1:49 pm
Tuesday, 3/29:       Period 2 Class Exam:  7:30-8:54 am
Period 3 Class Exam:  9:04-10:28 am
Wednesday, 3/30:  Period 4 Class Exam:  7:30-8:54 am
Period 5 Class Exam:  9:04-10:28 am

Tuesday and Wednesday will be half days for all students as they will be dismissed at 10:30 am.

Second, I would like to announce that MHS will be conducting a lockdown drill on Friday, April 8 at approximately 10:15 am.  This drill will be conducted in conjunction with the Mansfield Police and Fire Departments and will take no more than 10-15 minutes.  The intent is to ensure that all of us are on the same page in the unlikely event that there is an intruder in the building or there was an emergency where we did not want student egress through the hallways.  As we have not conducted this drill in some time, I feel it is critically important that we do so to proactively ensure that our school community remain a safe, secure environment.  As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me or call me at (508) 261-7540 anytime.

Have a great week!

Congratulations to the MHS Math Team on their second place finish at the Southeastern Massachusetts Math League Playoffs in what was their best performance of the year.  Mansfield came within single digits of rival Sharon High School and outscored the remaining schools by an exponential amount.

Congratulations to Scott Joss who was recognized as a high scorer in the Freshmen Division.  Special congratulations to Jaime Mortensen and Zach Banks who were recognized as the only students in their grade levels to attain perfect scores.  Also contributing to the overall success of the team were Walter Xu, Melissa Kirejczyk, Kenny Ratliff, Nate Michener, Krish Bandi, Medha Biswas, and Anwesh Yerneni.

Mansfield will compete in the State Mathematics Competition to be held this Friday, April 1st at Shrewsbury High School.  Go Mathletes!

Register Today for the Great Mansfield Cleanup!

gmc

Each year on a spring Saturday, students, parents, business owners, and other residents gather to give the town of Mansfield a thorough spring cleaning. Volunteers fan out across town to pick up the trash that litters our roadsides, parks, schools, and other public areas. The day concludes with a free picnic at the VIP Tent at the Comcast Center.

During the first Great American Cleanup of Mansfield in May 2008, more than 1,000 volunteers removed nearly five tons of litter and debris from roadsides and parks, including 200 bags of recyclables and more than 100 tires. Last year's cleanup was another great success, and we're looking to make the 2011 cleanup even better.

Mansfield's volunteers join millions of others from across the nation in the Great American Cleanup between March 1 and May 31. Keep America Beautiful, the organization that created the Great American Cleanup, expects 3 million volunteers will participate in 30,000 community improvement activities and educational workshops in 17,000 communities nationwide this year. Activities include removing litter, beautifying parks, organizing a recycling or graffiti removal program, and other projects.

Come join us- for even an hour- on Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.  To register online, please click here.
