MHS Hoops Programs Enjoy Unparalleled Success
Hock champs!

Last year it took 50 years for the MHS Boys' Basketball Team to capture its first Hockomock League Championship since 1960.  It took all of 11 months for the squad to win its second- with a gritty 54-44 victory over Attleboro last Friday night. The 16-2 Hornets (a perfect 12-0 in the Hock) have been dominant and have only one more league contest at Franklin this Tuesday night.  The team will the play out the string of the Hockomock Classic (most likely vs. OA) and three non-league games until the MIAA Tournament in March.  Congratulations to Coach Mike Vaughan and the team on this great accomplishment!

Equally impressive is the run of the MHS Girls' Basketball Team, who were crowned as Hockomock Champions last night with a thrilling 50-47 victory over rival North Attleboro.  This is the first girls' hoop championship in the program's history! This great win makes them a perfect 17-0 (13-0 in the Hock) and in all likelihood, will assure a very high seeding in the MIAA Tournament.  Congratulations to Coach Mike Redding and his outstanding team on this historic season!

Both Boys' & Girls' Indoor Track are Hock Champs

Both the girls' and boys' indoor track teams successfully defended their Hockomock League championships this weekend at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.  For the boys' team it was 10th consecutive title and for the girls it was 4th.  The boys' team was downright dominant, scoring an incredible 103.5 points.  The team outright won five events and had many outstanding performances that set school and meet records, including junior Josh Lampron's 2:30.1 time in the 1000 meters and senior Steve Gannon's 35.54 time in the 300 meters.

The girls were equally dominant, as they lapped the competition by scoring 87 points. For the girls, junior Kayla Comer (55 m, 7.41), junior Jen Esposito (300 m, 41.29), senior Lauren Coloumbare (pictured above) (mile, 5:27) and senior Kristen McDonagh (high jump, 5-4) all  delivered first place performances.

Both teams will defend their MIAA Division 2 Championship next weekend.  For a full account of the Hockomock Championship Meet, please check out the MHS Indoor Track & Field Website.
