From the Principal's Desk
dr. maruszczakGood morning! Welcome to a new working week and as of tomorrow, a new month.  May February be filled with many sunny days in the 40's!

A couple key events I would like to call to your attention.  First, just a reminder that our second round of  Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held this Thursday, February 3 from 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm and again on Thursday, February 10 from 6:30-8:30 pm.  All conferences are by appointment only.  If you need a conference appointment sheet, please click here.

Second, I would like to invite you a very timely presentation that will be occurring this Thursday night at 7:00 pm in the MHS Auditorium.  The QMS Parent Advisory is sponsoring nationally renowned speaker Rachel Simmons for Be You: An Interactive Presentation for Girls and AdultsThis presentation is for both parents and their daughters.  Ms. Simmons is the author of the NY Times bestseller Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls, one of the first books to explore the phenomenon of bullying among girls.  A Rhodes Scholar, Ms. Simmons is also the founding director of the Girls Leadership Institute an non-profit organization that teaches the practices of emotional intelligence, assertive self-expression and healthy relationships, giving girls the skills and confidence to live as leaders. She has also appeared on national shows such as The Today Show and the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Being the father of teenage and pre-teen daughters, I frequently hear the stories of bullying and harassment that occurs among girls in the guise of "just kidding."  I am planning on attending this very timely and relevant presentation with them.  If you have a middle-school or high-school aged daughter, I invite you to do the same.

Tickets are now being sold in the main offices of QMS and MHS, online, and at the door Thursday evening.  For more information, please click here.

Have a great week!

Cordially,
